As an additional story note, Ania's powers are what insured Koji Mirame's ascension to the position of High Lord. Many detractors, even in his own clan, labeled Koji as soft-hearted with too many crazy, liberal ideas. Although women are considered equals within the Mirame and Mitsumi clans, the Fujima and Shaedo do not permit women to become soldiers or hold any political office. As a political compromise, Ania could never take an official role in her husband's regime. However, with her almost literal iron fist, Ania was able to convince even the incumbents that, with her help, Koji Mirame would be a strong ruler. Over the course of his rule, Koji began to show his true colors and started engaging in talks with the Warring Clans' old allies, the Mage…to the disgust of the Fujima and Shaedo. From that point on, things become complicated for Koji Mirame and his family….
