We saw at the end of Chapter 2 that Councilor Karma Joffe was plotting against Kaycee's cadetship at Magellan. But that was before we knew Karma was a fake. Oh noes! That makes her machinations even more sinister (I would think it would anyway!). She's talking here to Council President Mary Gemmas who, as we saw at the start of this chapter, was the witch known as Glamor back in her hey day. If you think things haven't been going Kaycee's way so far this chapter, you ain't seen nothing yet!
