This is how time travel works in the Magellanverse… any backwards travel immediately splits out an alternative from the traveller's own timeline. ANd yes, I though of this before the Star Trek movie. I'm sure it's not an original take on the concept, but I justthought I'd mention I wasn't copying what happened in that movie. Anyway, I don't know if the word "chroner" has previously been used for a time-traveller but I quite liked it - shorter than "time traveller" and a more naturally colloquial word tha "chrononaut"…
