Being a reptile enthusiast, I get a lot of questions about reptiles, particularly snakes (my area of emphasis). One I get quite often is about parental care. When I used to have a snake that laid some eggs, people asked why I took them from the mother to incubate them? And would she take care of them when they were born?
Snakes aren't like mammals or birds. Once the babies are born, they are on their own. They don't feed them, don't burp them, nothing…they are basically little versions of adults that know what to do the minute they hatch.
