Chapter 1 - Page 24

I'm really proud of how this page came out. Up until this point we've seen nothing but dark and wretched environments, so the colours have been a difficult time for me. Working with darkness is a very difficult thing unless you're really sure of what you're doing, and I have to admit, it isn't my strong suit, though I am learning. This page was done with lighter inks, no hatch shading (which is, admittedly, more useful in pure black and white artwork), and with a soft brush rather than a hard paint brush. I'm considering using this general look for Chapter 2 but I have to be sure I can get a varied look with it. Anyway, there's a reason for the change, I'm sure you can tell what it is.

There's some news info on the official site which now works completely about printed release. I'm looking to get a sense of who would actually want to buy the first issue so I can make sure I have enough when I get the first batch printed. It probably won't be done for another month or so, but it'd help to get a rough idea. I'm hoping to sell this for somewhere between 4 and 7 dollars, depending on the cost to print and ship, the cheaper I can go, the better.

So what will be in the first issue? Well, all pages for chapter 1, supplemental artwork (aka - the random art I've done during this chapter), and I'm hoping to include some amusing "failed comic pages" ideas as well as a page or three of writing about the comic process and thumbnails.

So if any of this sounds interesting, let me know! Send me a note, comment here, or send me an email at kiah@blackbirdsky.net

Oh and if you're into the whole Twitter thing, I have an account there and am updating it with info about what I'm currently working on, whether it's Sacrilicious or Starsign. You can find me on there as Kiah.
