Nothing much really happening on this page…essentially it's just to drive home how confusing this is to her. This moment that was really nothing (I don't think "Tren" even remembers it) is so important to her.

It's the only page of this flashback with other people talking. That's just for us, of course, she's not relaying those as she's telling the story, but I think she remembers them. It sorta drives home his whole attitude - how he didn't single her out and take notice, and he's not worrying particularly about his slaves.

The shading's kinda lackluster here, I'm sorry. I felt that even as I was working on it, but wasn't sure how to fix it. I think it was one of those art-braindead moments I sometimes have. Bleh.

Anyway, next week we start a few pages were Tai-ra begins to notice some things about life, and finally comes to understand some things…which was the point of all this lead-in after all. ^_^
