Aw, c'mon Agneris. No one ELSE has homework!
That was a bit of an info dump I just gave you guys. In the interests of keeping from just having two characters sit here and talk for an entire chapter (and so I can do a short time skip to the next chapter) we're switching scenes here to see what some of the other characters are up to. Exposition will resume next chapter in which I'll be filling in most of the remaining holes. (Note the "most of" there.)
I actually always meant for his grandfather's dislike of magic to be mentioned well before this point, because I was initially going to make a bigger plot point out of it, but there was just never anywhere to work it into the conversation, so I think I'll dial that back a bit.
