A question was raised about the nature of the ghost Nando/ zombie Nando stuff and I'm going to do my best to explain it (though I think someone kinda did already…) Ah, here it is,

Pikmin50 said: "before he got his soul from the mansion, he was simply a collective of consciousness and body. but when the soul entered him, it merged with his consciousness, much like a regular human, but…you know…more rotted. and now that his soul has left him again, taking his human consciousness along with it, he is merely a zombie."

You know when he went into brain-munch mode before? He didn't have a conscience to reset things, and now that his soul occupies his body it ejected it when it went into full-on flesh eater mode. It has merged with the bit of consciousness his body retained before, which is why he was hit with so much when he first got his "spirit" back in the Mansion arc. Things he'd forgotten in his zombie body returned to his mind as things got synchronised. But the spirit isn't "completely" merged with his body like it is with his mind, therefore the body (which wants some brains) can reject it.
This is why he was able to make contact with it in the beginning too, punching the ghost in the face. Though I did heavily imply that previously, Nando in zombie mode wouldn't remember having attacked Amelius at all, but simply took her word for it meaning whatever scrap of sanity he had was pushed back in some dark place so as to not interfere. And that's what's going on with the ghost getting ejected! Just wait and see what happens next now that Owly is on the attack… maybe that will put some more things in perspective :D
