My old sea buddy CTIC Smiley Richard Thrush, USN (retired) passed away on Friday.
Smiley,  was a kind soul, a cunning linquist, a great chief and the best friend anyone could ever have.  
We went to sea together on 3 or 4 ships.  He told hookers in Korea that we were sailors off of the whaler Nantucket.  In the Phillipines, Smiley //CENSORED// and then shoved that thing into //CENSORED// with peanut butter and //CENSORED// how it got on the ceiling is anybody's guess //CENSORED// still have that scar. When others shunned me in Groton he stood by me.  His wit and wisdom kept things interesting.  
Fair winds and following seas my friend.  You are already missed.
Out of respect for Smiley and his family I post none of the photographs taken over the years.
