Mario must have a pretty damn hard head. That is a metal box full of coins. You don't just bash into that kind of thing with your head! If I saw a metal box mysteriously floating in the air the last thing i'd think of doing is jumping and hitting it with my brain protector, plus i'm short, fat and white, so there is a good possibility I couldn't do that if I wanted to.
