Because. The special effects in the original trilogy were low tech. (They were the best of the time). Now the new trilogy comes in the age of "ROCKIN' SPECIAL EFFECTS" they spruced up what was lacking in the realism of the original triology. But they forgot this little thing called character development, smooth plot, and good acting. (Also there was no Harrison Ford)
