Comcast blocks the internet... Now the Public!

So is this going to be continually bounced between here and D&D? Sounds like Drunkduck is trying to keep us from knowing where this thread is to voice our opinions.

You goddamn Hitlers.

I moved it back, because it's not exactly a debate, unless you are talking about the stupid replies that you and kyupol keep posting.

And on that topic, kyupol, anonymousposterchild, and Product Placement: Thanks for making a topic that everyone should be concerned about a lame way for you to get attention.

I pointed out what socialism and net neutrality are. Product Placement also made valid points in his post. In fact, the people making the least sense in here are you and kyupol. Kyupol because, well, he always does that, and you because you didn't really touch on what net neutrality is. You say people should be concerned, but you don't say why other than "If Net Nuetrality is taken away, YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER will decide how fast and how slow you get to certain sites. This affects us all. Sites like this especially!"

The fact is that me and Product Placement both touched on facts like how net neutrality will probably be cancelled out through the nature of inter-business competition.

I cited articles and websites that explain it in detail. It's on my sig banner too. They go straight to websites that explain in detail what NN is. If someone was curious all they had to do was click. Plus, it's not like this is the FIRST thread we had on NN. My intent wasn't to define it for everyone, just show what comcast did in regards to the FCC hearing.

But fine, here you go.

Here are my main points of contention regarding the abolishment of NN.

WE PAID for it, Tax payers like you and me. Not ISP's. And we are already paying ISP's for speed of their internet connection service. Dial-Up, DSL, Cable Modem, etc. If NN is abolished, then this is effectively an unscrupulous "double-dip" for the ISP's.

And your point is only valid if the competition actually survives and doesn't follow the exact same business model. Which they will. They won't be able to afford keeping up with the big guys if they don't.

Can someone post some graphs so I can understand what Net Neutrality is?

So I am stupid for seeing the co-relation between blocking the internet and a fascist state.

So they are totally unrelated and independent. Just like any event in history.

They are totally unrelated.

I see. I am stupid then. I have to repeat that to myself. That everything is unrelated and everything is separate from each other.

My bad. :)

Now now.

Let me repeat.

"There are no tyrants where there are no slaves".

But please dont be disappointed if you expect me to jump in and start cussing and flaming here like I used to react before.

I respect your opinions and freedom of choice though.

Ever heard of willful slavery? lol!

Ever heard of making some damn sense? Hell, even the blatent propaganda that comes out of Save The Internet gets this right:

Put simply, Net Neutrality means no discrimination. Net Neutrality prevents Internet providers from speeding up or slowing down Web content based on its source, ownership or destination.

However, ISPs can already do this, what getting rid of what is commonly referred to as net neutrality does is let them charge money for it. You want access to certain protocols and the like, you pay for it. It's like designing a cable TV package. There is NOTHING about BLOCKING the internet in that, nor anything else you said.

Thank you sir, Net Neutrality makes more sense to me now. But I'd like to see some more graphs so I get an even clearer picture of it.
