If you've ever been to a junk store what's the coolest thing you've gotten?
Mine is I was passing the VHS rack(no one touches it) and spotted 'prince of persia2' for the PC. I snatched it and behind it was anotherPC game; 007 nightfire. So I snatched that as well. Then I fiddled around more in the rack and found 'Sim city 3000', Red alert2, need for speed 2, and lord of the rings 2.
Best part is it was all $2.50 at the junk store lol!
I'll be making it a habit to check the VHS racks now, though I'm sad to report prince of persia is missing a disc. -_-

Coolest thing you've ever found at a junk store?
A box of mannequin parts, the original VHS Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy ( Which isn't even cheesy, funny bad. It's just incredibly bad. But it keeps the drunks here pretty occupied. ), an original Turok #1 and a commercial size laundry bin full of spray paint in pretty much every colour you could even think of.
Best part is, what cost me the most was the mannequin parts, and despite the fact that that comic is worth something like $50, I got it all for $47.
the original VHS Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy ( Which isn't even cheesy, funny bad. It's just incredibly bad…No way… I found it amazingly cool!
Although I watched it when it first came out on TV. But I have seen it since and I think they did ok with the 80's effects and BBC budget at the time. The best part though was the acting and the fact that they had almost all the original actors from the radio series doing it, except Ford and Trillian, but those guys were still pretty good anyway.

I've found good things… I got a brilliant brown suede jacket that fit just perfectly. It had a fringe on the back and really good lining.
But I drank too much tequila at a party (and other stuff), passed out and vomited all over it. The fact that people put me in the shower (while still passed out) wouldn't have made it much better. I woke up the next day in a strange bed with my clothes in a plastic bag. Then vomited into my pillow. :)
I recovered, but the jacket didn't.
Hell's Bells. Their gallows sound is the wind that moves the hanged from their high positions in dark trees, their chimes are the tinkling of blood coins spent by damned souls. Legend has it they were forged from the blades of Michael and Abdiel, and the standards of Zadkiel and Jophiel, after the four brought down the great dragon and the prince of the Grigori, Satanael. They were cast in Pandæmonium by the suggestion of Mammon, and struck by Abaddon. In hell they rang the day Jericho's walls fell. It was said Alexander held them when he was ill in battle, when he had to have a hole drilled into his armor so he would not foul it while he fought on horseback in his final days. Constantine claimed to hear them the last days of his life. Later they were kept by a long line of popes until they were lost in Napoleon's days.
They were $20 at the flea market.
since i'm in the habit of getting almost everything i own at Junk stores or out of the garbage, it's hard to say . since most thrift stores in the states get all their stock from donations , you can the realy good stuff from hitting up the unattended donation drop off places late at night. not that i would ever do that , that's just what i heard other less scrupulous people would do. the best thing i can think of was a working movie projector for 8 bucks, thing was at least 50 years old.
the thrift stores in Japan are a little different , they are more like pawn shops in that they have to buy all their stuff. and there are thrift stores Everywhere in Japan. most people don't realize that a lot of japanese are very poor . i would say that thrift stores are the most common type of store in Japan, and after that would be used book stores , where you can buy most mangas for about 1$ US . and they have everything, you can pick up whole collections easily . but, the only thing is, it is in Japanese !
but the trash is the real gold mine here . usually once or twice a year they have massive trash days where people throw out practicaly everything in their house and you can cruise around and pick up pretty much any sort of home furnishings you would ever need . i got my sofa , desk , chairs , tables cabinets all from the trash. i found a perfectly good VCR in the box with remote ! And the best thing i found was an old Table top arcade game (it was full of rat poop and sgredded newspaper, but it makes a cool table) and a foot powered sewing machine (incase the grid goes down)
(it was full of rat poop and sgredded newspaper,Oh god that would go on my list of worst things I could find Dx

I bought 'Dark messiah, might and magic' and 'FF 11 online' friday for 6 bucks. All my thrift stores seem to be a goldmine for PC games, I guess people shopping have crappy computers or PC gaming really is dying.
He's that guy from 24.
I think you mean Jack Bauer =P
The John Bauer I'm talking about is a very famous artist who died in 1918 and whose art is very valuable. He's Swedish, but still very famous around the world for his magic style
His most famous work would be Princess Tuvstarr

I got an NES, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Atari Jaguar, about 40-50 games multiple controllers, and a couple of books, all for 30 dollars. All the games came with their cases, and the Jaguar can fetch about 200 on eBay. Yes, I was happy. (But no battletoads for the PS3, sadly:)
We don't really have 'junk' stores where I live, but we do have charity shops (Thrift stores, I guess, to Americans).
I found a first edition copy of one of the Harry Potter books in there for £2 (Never read them myself, but I understand that's quite good). Found a huge stack of Pokemon cards, including several Charizards and a bunch of other rare stuff for 50p.
Also bought a WRAPPED copy of the original Legend of Zelda from a car boot sale for £5.
That's my retirement plan sorted.
