This is a cool site that all DD users should join. It's like myspace or facebook but you get paid for your usage. I kid you not. Once you join, then find the club within it called "Comics." All DDers should fit right in. In the first month, you might make like only 50 cents, but for doing what you do on the net anyways, why not? I still pick up pennies when I see them.

See my other reply below with more details.

Wait I'm confused.

What do I do when I've entered my bank details and all of the twenty quid I had in there disappears?

They don't take your bank details. You can choose to get paid by check or paypal. I thought it was a scam at first too but after further research, I feel good about it. They don't collect anything that could allow them to steal your money.

No, I signed up a few days ago. It is too early for me to get paid. They pay in $25 increments I think.

I have no idea what this is about. But Joey Chips is a DD member contributor here like the rest of us, he's NOT a spammer.

Here is what I did because I am extra cautious too (wife and three kids). When/if you sign up, there is an optional section that you can fill out (or not) when you are ready to get paid. It is an online tax form that asks for your social security number. I am not filling this out until the friend who referred me reaches payout point ($25 earned), gets paid and lets me know. If he doesn't get paid, Yuwie of course won't be getting my ss number. But in the meantime, it is still a very cool place to meet people that socialize on the net. I have found some cool folks there as I have here. I think Yuwie is unique because people are more energized there at the possibility of the site actually being lucrative over time for something they do anyways.

The concept reminds me of spiralfrog (with the whole ads thing).

But it's still sort of iffy. I'm not sure why I feel that way. I looked around the site a little, and I could see that 1000 new members already signed up today. Can ads seriously pay for so many people? Sure, every time you see an ad, it goes up, but it seems to be too good to be true.

Just FYI, ASSUMING you are in the U.S., an "employer" (of any sort) is not required by the IRS to fill out a tax form on you unless they've paid you a certain magic number or greater – it's $500 or $600 or around there, you'd have to look it up. So they have no valid reason to ask for your soc. number unless they're telling you you've earned $500+ that they're actively waiting to send you.

I'm not a tax or employment law attorney, so accept this for what it is – I could be wrong – but I'm pretty confident about that being the way it works.

I guess as long as you don't have to give out too much personal info at first it can't do much harm.

Anyways, I think this is the link to my profile on there.

edit-
lol, almost got deleted 'cuz my quote was 'Then I had a wank.'

Hmmm, I'm not sure how much money is worth not being able to say or quote wank.

Also, I have had bad experiences with Paypal as well.

Take those responses back to the Top Drawer, Rutger.

If you have nothing better to say, don't post. Don't increase your post count just so that you can look at how huge your said count is and feel better.

Sure thing.

Also, it wasn't the quote that got me blocked, it was my avvy. You know, the one that said 'Bitchin''

The prospect of easy money or big scam has created an interesting discussion here. I currently see Yuwie as a sort of feeding frenzy of internet people… sort of like a rave, but without the drugs.

If this is anything like what I think it is, and I think it is, this is a market research group that pays you to let them track your internet usage. It's not a scam, you do get paid in proportion to the amount of your online activity, but it's still very dodgy letting someone monitor your web habits and very few people get paid enough to make it worth the effort. Essentially, though correct me if I'm mistaken, you log into this site and then surf, chat, whatever, and their server or whatever logs what you do. I don't know much more about it than that, and I could be wrong and this may be something completely different, but it sounds like other groups that have operated like this. It's all legal, but very questionable.
