This isn't a movie or TV show… But it could go in General! :)

What water does really well is make glass hard to see ;)
So yeah, it's fake: put glass in some water that you swish around and it goes invisible. You can basically pretend to do anything with it while it's immersed, then pull out thousands of smaller, pre-cut pieces.

My initial reaction is that anything on the internet is fake, but I think someone should just go try it! Voulenteers? Does look a bit dangerous. :-)

I'm going to try it.

I'm gonna dial 9 and 1, and when I don't hear back from you, I'm gonna hit the other 1.

Im gonna try this brb…

I just tried it and it doesn't work although I used a drinking glass instead of a sheet of glass so the shape might change something…. I dunno.

Yeah… the shape makes all the difference. lol!

Seriously, it's an obvious trick. C'mon, if you could cut glass with scissors just by sticking it in water why would people bother to spend lot'sa money on expensive glass cutting tools for glass work?

Basically, the properties of transparent flat glass are as old as time: HARD TO SEE IN WATER. even harder when it's clean, you're using a camera, shitty video compression, and you swish up the water a bit = totally invisible.
-and that equals fake: pretend to cut a bit of glass and then pull out another pre-cut piece. Add sounds effects just to polish it off. :)

What did I learn in physics all those years ago…? The refractive index of glass is almost the same as water meaning that one can be almost completely invisible when viewed through the other… Well swishing up the water probably increase the index meaning the glass IS invisible.

You don't cut glass like paper. Glass is scored with a tool to create a weak spot and then snapped along that score.

Now I'm waiting for the video of someone melting steel with a lightbulb….)

You still would need tools if you want a nice result. The glass isn't cut smooth, it looks pretty shitty, I did find this http://www.spectrumglass.com/Library/ScoreArticles/NoFishStory.html

YouTube is media ;)

Doesn't sound resonate in water at a higher frequency?

That, or those Aquaman comic books have been lying to me all these years.

It's the ol switcheroo! Probably right when he started 'cutting' to stir up the water, and grab the piece of plastic at the bottom of the sink.

I should probably watch the video again just to be sure but personally…I don't think it's glass. If it's not that then I think he has really fast hands and like Ozone said, was just playing a little trick.

But I'm more inclined to the idea that it's not glass.

[Edit: I so did not see Alexis' article link. ^^;;;]

Naaaaaaaa, Media is for entertainment media, that's why it's in that section. Jebus, even stuff posted in a forum is "media" of we want to be literal… lol!

Alexis's article sounds convincing… But maybe BK's right and it's not really glass anyway?

I got a piece of picture frame glass and tried my idea to see if I could make it invisible. Well it's tricky, you DO have to swish up the water quite a lot because the refractive index is a bit higher :(
Then for a laugh I tried cutting it with scissors and it didn't do anything at all. This was thin glass too. Maybe you just need special scissors? :)

That piece of glass looks wobbly and gel-ish.

Ok, I tried it, as best I could. I didn't want to break a large piece of glass, so all I had was this broken piece of framing glass. It is possible to cut glass with scissors, but it's really more like mashing it into pieces. And it was hard, I had to really force the scissors shut. But it did cut the glass into two pieces rather than shattering it.

Plus you get to marvel at how large and manly my hands are. I swear I'm a chick.

Ooh… That does seem interesting. I'd like to give this a shot, if I could get my hands on a piece of glass.. >>;
