Pardon my cynicism, but why is this relevant? Surely this information could have been shared in the thread that resulted in Tater's ban, or at the very least in an E-mail. While I won't defend him for what ever actions he made to get on your bad sides (people get banned for a reason), I do find it low and pointless to make a thread about this.
Perhaps there is a reason and I'm missing it, but at this point it seems too much like kicking sand in his face, and less like an urgent announcement.
EDIT: And since it's happened before in the past, please don't take this as flame or anything. I'm not trying to start shit here, I know that's pointless and will get us all nowhere. I'm just curious and expressing a bit of concern about the situation. And explanation is all I'm asking for, but by no means am I demanding it.
Personally I feel that it's out of context and falls into the "disrespected community members" Claus of the Terms of Service. I feel that a moderator and/or admin shouldn't really stoop to the same level, least not in an instance like this.
Again, I'm not trying to rattle cages, but I really do find this low (no matter what member it's directed towards). Sides, the banning of a member isn't really our business. But by making this public, your putting such a thing in our faces.
To be fair, there have been a lot of people asking us in the past when Tater would be permanently banned. He's been banned before and came back (or been allowed back) and that has made some people upset. Even when he comes back with other usernames (like My Name Borat) people have figured him out and it annoys them that someone who always causes us trouble is able to come back. Consider it more of an informative announcement to those people than some kind of gloating thread.
I don't really see anything wrong with announcing that someone is permanently banned. After all he's done, and all he's been warned about and still done, I can't really respect Tater any more or even feel any kind of empathy for him. Basically, you get what's coming to you. Tater's never had a problem with drawing attention to himself and making himself a negative center of attention, so this thread doesn't really seem much different. If he didn't want everyone to know he'd been permabanned, he shouldn't have gotten himself permabanned in the first place.
So it's a goodbye thread in spirit. :)
