on second thought…since I don't have ImageReady (probably swallowed from macromedia in CS3) I'll just screw around until I get it to work…
animated gif…? how would I go about that? just have it be animated and save it as a gif?

Is the animation working when you're viewing it on PS? On ImageReady, you have to optimize your animations in order for them to work; you can't just save them like a regular image. Maybe it's the same way on PS. Try browsing around the Adobe help forums or the PS help section; you might be able to find an answer.
