The Holidays are upon us! Wheither you do Christmas, Hannakah, Kwanza, or just plan old getting youself drunker than Anut Murial, its all coming!
So, now that they are coming, are you ready to do any tradtions? Have any special things you do every year? Something different? Or something that just same old, same old?
Well, share them with us!
For us, we don't put name tags on our X-Mas presents.
This happened some years back when someone… Ah… Looked at the presents early… I'm not going to say who… *Coughs.* Just that Santa got REALLY mad, and as punishment, left all the name tags off the presents.
But its very fun! The presents will be wraped in certain paper, and the challenge is to figure out whose is whose. Some times we get a note with some clues from Santa, sometimes we just got to work with out it. Some times we get it right, sometimes we don't.
Its a very special tradition, that I hope to carry on to my future childern to do.

Holiday Traditions?
My parents never label the presents…they somehow know whos is whos. As tradition we grew up never believing in this person of mystery called Santa Claus. Lol…but truely our tradition is to gather our huge family in one of our homes on Christmas Eve(bring all the presents there and such) Have a nice feast and await christmas morning. (I remember one christmas we all went outside to play hide and seek in the dark) The anticipation is too great for some of the kids to handle so they get to open 1 present each at exactly 11:30. Then the rest at midnight. It's funny though cause one of my dogs gets really excited when there are presents…and gets sad when he gets nothing, so we usually get him something and he opens it up all on his own.
We used to watch the old Mickey's Christmas Carol on TV…but then they decided it was too cool and stopped playing it. So we got a Mickey DVD with it (and some other old ones we used to watch, like "Pluto's Christmas" or whatever it's called) and we watch it every year again.
Ahh, nostalgia. Anyone remember this?

Ok, I'm only replying to give specifics. Most of my dad's side live close together but I'm the last kid at home. My cousin and brother and cousin are in college, my other male cousin is in the military. My only girl cousin is married so she probably won't make it.
Most of my mom's side are younger than me. Also my family are across state, so we have to go after the 25th. So yeah, leave me alone; just don't bother me.

Other than watching just about all the old school Christmas things on TV (A Christmas Story, Charlie Brown's Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, etc), it's me and my brother getting very drunk during the family Christmas gathering and making everyone laugh with our improv Christmas Tales, answers to Christmas Trivia, and my brother's Santa Clause Monologue… Fun times for all!
In Sweden, Christmas is celebrated on the 24th.
Throughout December, we have this thing. We bring it out on Sundays and light one more candle for every Sunday - if things work out, the fourth candle is lit on Christmas. It's a Christian tradition, which my family continues despite being atheist.
Other than that, we watch Sagan om Karl-Bertil Johnssons Julafton. We're not much of a traditionalist family. As long as the Christmas dinner is served and presents are handed out, it's alright.

CHRISTMAS SONG GENERATOR
We get a small potted tree and prop it up on a desk in the living room to make it appear larger. Then we decorate the house. My favorite decorations are the nativity set in the kitchen (consisting of ornaments of Jesus, Mary, Joseph and a rather well-endowed mermaid) and this thing called the "mistleturd". Instead of a piece of mistletoe my mother ties one of those rubber poos to a lighting fixture near one of our entrances, and when someone gets caught beneath it, they are obliged to kiss her ass.
Obviously we take the holiday very seriously.
Since I'm Filipino and from a Catholic background (just as 90% of Filipinos are), we have these things called:
- Noche Buena (basically a party all you can on the eve of dec. 24)
- Simbang Gabi (eng trans: 'midnight mass'. Going to church. lol)
Christmas in the Philippines is much more fun compared to N. America!!! lol!
I never really developed any xmas traditions since i never had any kids and i would just go to my parents for xmas. but since they're gone, this year, i bought my first xmas tree(a small one) and decorated it. my sister who has a family plays the same music my parents listened to during christmas(albeit with some country mixed into the selection). The same thing with the movies we'll watch. And my mother gave her all the family xmas traditional knick-knacks. So it kinda looks like the old homestead(except for the country decor). And she cooks the same stuff(once again with the southern country stuff mixed in). Needless to say, I shall wander over there(like a stray cat) to follow the family xmas traditions-(slightly modified for a new generation) It's fun watching traditions "change" and I wonder what my nephew and niece will add when they have their families.
