Hey everyone, another new guy here, settling in. I'm a web designer to pay the bills, but my dream has always been to draw, write, and basically create the next "Spider-Man" or "Bugs Bunny". I would always come up with unique characters and ideas, but have no serious way to get it across.

I came across this site by accident and/or happenstance, and I tell you, if DD existed in the early 90s, who knows where I'd be right now? Long story short - look for a graphic novel soon. Now that I've found the ideal place in DD, I just need to perfect my concept.

I've read lots of excellent strips and stories in the short time I've been a member. Keep up the great work, and I hope you'll all one day read mine. Stay tuned.

Welcome! I found DD by accident too. Just strolling along the internet, minding my own business, and someone left the cover off the DD man-duck-hole. Think I sprained my ankle when I landed. No one around to pull me out (but lots of people falling in on top of me…)

Can't wait to read your future "next big thing!"

The next "Bugs Bunny", eh?

You'd better practice A LOT.

But, welcome anyway.

Hey, who knows, maybe in 50 years, they'll be referring to Bugs Bunny as "that obscure bunny that looks kinda like [put name of the new bunny here]"

I tell you, if DD existed in the early 90s, who knows where I'd be right now?

Same here - and I guess many of us will agree! Though maybe I wouldn't be much farther? Prolific as I was back then, I was just a kid. But it's true that it's soooo much easier today to get out there with your art and get noticed.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. However, I don't want to give anyone the wrong idea. When I referenced Bugs, as well as Spidey, I wasn't trying to get ahead of myself. I was simply establishing how my prolific 12-year-old mind worked back in 1992. For many years, I've toyed with several concepts for (regular) novels, as well as comic strips and comic books.

Now that I've since earned a college degree, and have a "day job" that allows me to work from home, my schedule is freed up to create in my spare time. On my last birthday, my whole family chipped in and surprised me with new art/drawing supplies, to encourage me back into the hobby. Furthermore, with all the graphic programs I have already for my web design, everything seems set for a serious attempt. Also, since I want to explore both my writing and drawing skills, I feel a graphic novel is the best medium for me.

As far as a main focal character, that's easy. My thirteen-year-old grey and white cat (a siamese-tabby mix). I think I may adapt a concept I had for a sci-fi novel into a graphic novel. I don't mean to sound so mysterious, but I as I said before, I want to perfect my story before I start posting pages.

Lastly, I know I need an avatar (at least for recognition purposes), and for now I may use a color sketch of my cat to create one.

Thanks again for the greetings, and rest assured, I'm not just talk. :)

Heya zigzag, I'm looking forward to reading your stuff! I've got a siamese/stray kitty too, though for breed she's called a snowshoe. They're great aren't they?
