TheMidge28 interviews Bocaj!

Posted at

This interview is conducted by TheMidge28!

Username: Bocaj
Comics: Guy in a Dinosaur Costume, MS Pain, Laughing Out Loud Zombies, and several others

If you went to IHOP and ordered pancakes, what kind of syrup would you put on them: Boysenberry, Maple, Butter Pecan, Blueberry, Strawberry, or all of them?

I HATE IHOP.
DIE NOW.

Bocaj why webcomics? I mean out of any medium you could have chosen why webcomics? What got you started doing webcomics?

It all started with a little known comic strip called "Calvin and Hobbes." C&H was the first comic I truly feel in love with… I've read (and memorized) them all. I also read the comics daily from the newspaper. So I loved comics strips.

Webcomics I first got into when my older brother showed me Bob And George, a sprite comic which both of us no longer read. I read a few other comics, and got to really like webcomics.

Also I doodle a lot and decided: IMMA GONNA MAEK A WEBKOMIK!!!
AND I DID.

If you could create your own martial art, what would you call it and what would be your one forbidden move which you created but realized it was too deadly but still wrote it down in some secret manuscript knowing that someday it may eventually fall into the wrong hands and you would have to train a young brash student all these moves and more so they could go and find and destroy those who stole these secrets?

Name of the martial art: UUUURRRRRRGGGGGGUUUUWWWAAAAAA
Secret move: The URGNURKEL* (The ability to go without blinking for TEN WHOLE SECONDS!!!!!)
*Fun fact: I can do this move. FOR REAL REAL.

One thing I appreciate about your comics, Guy In A Dinosaur Costume and the now ended LOLZ(Laugh Out Loud Zombies) is the random off the wall humor. Where does that come from? Does it run in the family? What comedians do you find funny?

It comes naturally
While I frantically
Run up and down
The mound
Called Fransisco.

It doesn't really run in the family, no…

I'm a big fan of Demetri Martin. Youtube him. (Do it.)

Have you ever seen the movie Kung Pow? (hopefully answers yes) Do you remember the Gopher Chucks? (hopefully answers yes) Could that happen? I mean seriously, could someone make those?

I saw the beginning, and I saw that part.
And no. NEVER COULD IT HAPPEN (*wink wink*).

How come some people who think they're funny actually are not? What makes them unfunny? What would you advise them to do to make them funnier?

Answer 1: If I knew that I wouldn't have a problem with my fanbase! HA HA HA HA!!
Answer 2: Kill things.
Answer 3: Funny!? Let me talk about funny! Back in 'nam we had to walk thirteen miles to go to the bathroom! ON UNICYCLES.
Answer 3a: Wait! Don't go!

I'm so lonely…

If you could walk a mile in someone's shoes, who and why?

God.
Just to fuck with people.
(Guess what!? YOU GOT HERPES!!!)

Are Jewish people naturally funny? Why is that?

All Jews are funny, although it isn't natural. You see, the Holocaust was just so funny, that it rubbed of on all the Jews. (If you laugh at a Jew joke, and you aren't a Jew, your bad, and you should feel bad. :D )

Have you ever thought of doing a more serious comic and if so along what lines would it be?

Yes. Often.
I've had a lot of ideas. One was a serious story about Drew (from LOLZ) and his life after he escapes and his mental recovers from his situation. Also a few abstract textless stories, and a few other things.
I may do one one day.

If you could wrestle Winnie the Pooh, Pamela Anderson, or Tom Selleck in a vat of honey, who would you wrestle and what signature move would you use on them?

Winnie the pooh, hands down.
I would use The URGNURKEL*!!

*Fun fact: Contains MSG.

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot about bocaj's comics in here… but I guess that's what the review forum's for, right? Am I right?

Anyway, I laughed. Hard.

When I found out that I was interviewing Bocaj, I was excited, because I had been reading LOLZ and GIADC ever since I came to the Duck. I have known Bocaj for a while from interactions on our comics, pqs and forum posts in forum games and TD, so I knew he had a fantastic sense of humor. I sent him a pq to ask him what he wanted to talk about, and his reply was to focus more on humor/comedy. So that's the direction we took. Sorry if people wanted more of a discussion of the comics.

*sniffle* I'm sorry… *whimper*

:(

If you think this one is wild you should see the one where he is interviewing me! yikes!

These two are clearly naturals at interviewing.
Keep them on the team permanently.
I don't think you should try to understand it. Bocaj is effing insane/hilarious/get the hell away from my jelly beans.

I think my response came off wrong… -_-; I certainly didn't think it was a bad interview! I mean, we're here to learn about the author, right? :)

They would certainly be invaluable members! :)

Excellent interview! I've been practicing URGNURKEL for years now, but I've yet to perfect my technique. :(

Nice to meet you Bocaj!
