I've recently been under pressure to find a replacement host for 'The Officially Unofficial Drunkduck Chat room' java applet when the current host decided to discontinue doing so. We're still working on making it look pretty, but I'm happy to say an arrangement was worked out with Blu (WhisperingSpirit) who has put the applet on a page at her website.

[Edit: one of the reasons we lost our last host is because people came to them with questions and complaints about chat/chatters. Blu has the same concerns. Please bring/send all questions and complaints to me via a Personal Quack (seeing as I never check my E-mail and DD has a notifier for PQ's) and I will address them when I can. Or the best thing to do is PM me in chat.]

I only use the applet at school, but just being able to use it at school is useful for me.

I'm glad you're hosting it now, since you're active in the chat itself. :D Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.

Seriously though, thanks for the applet and all that. I might not use it myself, but it sure is danged handy for the people who do.

I've updated the old old DD Chat button. (as you can see in my sig. as you can also see if you click it… it takes you to the page Blu set up for us.)

Blu rocks. I'd say more about how cool she is or isn't, but I have to go and design a new template for the Java Applet page.

its interesting, even though the chat is unadvertised, we tell people about it all the time and still noone knows it exists… i think some admins really need to advertise it…

People should be using MIRC for chatrooms anyway, not applets.

Not every one can use mIRC or some other chat client, Enef. Some people like to check in from work or school or a library and those places don't have or won't allow programs like those to be loaded on that computer. The the other reason for the applet is for new people who want to chat and either don't know about chat clients or don't have the right address to our server and channel. Which they can get from just about anybody in the chat room. Or you can just check the chat thread. (Just in case it's not anywhere in this thread, the server is irc.sorcery.net, the standard ports apply and the room is #drunkduck)
