Ask any questions you may have about Fowl Play here, no matter what the subject may be or how stupid you think it is. I'll answer it in the questions thread and PQ you a response personally

Just a simple question:

Do you know if this will sell well or not or are you taking a guess?

(Also, you should try and get this idea in the news posts dude).

How are you planning on distributing this?
You are talking pages in the hundreds… per issue?
That's a pretty huge magazine.
I may be able to supply pages of Min n Fin plus lessons from my site if I feel you are going to be 'professional' enough.
Can you please give me some more information re your background… do you have a publishing house in mind… which state are you in (I'm in Qld)… etc…?

Don't really know, but hey, it's all a part of being an entreprenuer. I just figured do one issue, try and get it out there and if it works, it works. If not, then it doesn't (And I PQed SpANG! last night)

Well, I was just going to use Lulu to publish it, since I've seen most duckers are in the States and shipping charges can be a real bitch. Thanks for bringing up distribution though, but I think I have an idea. See, most comic stores, newsagents and places like Borders will order a few copies of anything if you ask, so I guess I'll do that for down here (I'm in Sydney) although people elsewhere are going to have to do it themselves

And sure, go ahead and send it if you want

I think whether it sells or not or how it'll get published shouldn't
be the main concern until an actual magazine is produced.

I'm pretty amused by this entire project idea aussiekid ^^
like you've said, there have been other ideas like this that
have just fallen apart. You've ot a pretty solid idea so make
sure to keep it solid.

…with that said, Three hundred pages is a rather ambitious goal,
I would keep it at a range of 100-300 pages until you have enough people
that are really involved.
Also what kitsunekage said, all the submissions ought to be in the format
that you have in mind for when its gonna be printed, well cause, Thats the
idea from the start- a printed comic.

Yes so, dimentions of the comic format would be good, also submissions files should
be at 300dpi as printing standards.

…anyways, I think this is a really Rad idea,
I think I'll create a new comic for this
comic magazine :D

What format will it be printed in?
I just want to know what dimensions you think would be best.

Well, normal magazine/comic size, so about 17cm by 26cm

I think whether it sells or not or how it'll get published shouldn't
be the main concern until an actual magazine is produced.

Actually, I meant a maximum of 300 pages, but you do bring up some good points. I've answered kitsunekage's question about size and will add that to the submission guideline (Making sure the submission fits into that space) also, I'll add the 300 dpi part too (Thanks for reminding me)

Awesome idea, I love your ambition.
Would you like me to try to spread the word to some good comics, or are you afraid that to many people will submit?

Also do you want to compose a list of everyone who is going to submit?

Oh, I would love it if people spread the word. And I said, if it gets popular I'll just make each issue come out more frequently.

Also, I already have started a list

Cool, well I PQed two people.

Also to follow up on my PQs with you.
I'm not sure if I understand the concept right…
You want a whole comic (story line/constant characters and all) to be put in this book?
As in, I should get my whole comic together to give to you?

Not the whole comic, just what you want to appear in the first issue, which would be up to 35 pages, maybe edited, maybe left the same.

Well, my comic is about 35 pages.

Also can we send you the comics in color, and you print them in Black and White, or do I have to send them to you in Black and White?

(Sorry for all the questions, I'm new with all this.)

Don't worry, questions are how we learn.

Yes, you can give it to me in colour. I'll just use photoshop to convert it over to grayscale. Just make sure it'll look all right. If you want, I can send the conversion to you and if you don't like it, you can change it

I'm so glad, I tried redoing them in grayscale, and it took so long. I'll get my stuff ready, thanks for all the answers!

where can I find Foul Play, you said something about Lulu, as in Lulu.com, i check there and it isn't there.

the cut off date for submissions for the first issue is January 18th, so that I can sort everything by its release date, the 25th.

Which is why you might not be able to find it.

Hey, are there any spots open for the third? (If you make another?) If so, I would like to make a page.

I hope to see it in some store near me…
