Update on site issues over the past few days

First off, I want to thank you guys again for your patience over the past week, as we've worked to get DrunkDuck onto a new server. Most of the major issues should be fixed at this point (loading, logouts, missing avatars). We're aware that some minor bugs remain, and will continue to diligently work on them.

As you may have noticed, many of the comics on DD now display as "No Thumbnail". This is due to a change we made in the display of comic thumbnails on the site. Before, if a user had not uploaded a thumbnail image for their comic, the site would automatically create one out of the most recently uploaded comic page. This meant that comic thumbnails were being dynamically generated every time a reader did a search or landed on the homepage or visited a user's profile page. This was causing a lot of strain on the servers. We've since changed all of the comic thumbnails on the site to be static, and they now only load the thumbnail that the user has manually uploaded.

Next Monday we will be running a script where every comic that currently does not have a thumbnail attached to it will have one created automatically for them, based on the FIRST PAGE uploaded to that comic. This will not affect any comics with a thumbnail currently displaying. In the meantime, if you notice that your comic doesn't have a thumbnail, feel free to upload one! Everyone will still be able to edit their thumbnail as usual after we run the script.

We've also removed the rating and genre icons in the bottom corners of the thumbnails, as they already appear in the mouse-over description.
