FRIDAY NEWSPOST - Completed Webcomics

A couple weeks back I did an “abandoned webcomics” newspost talking about some of my favourite comics on DD that have been orphaned over the years. As an antidote to that (and thanks to bravo1102’s suggestion), this week is a "mission accomplished" post highlighting completed webcomics

This newspost was WAY harder than the previous one. Partly because many webcomics aren’t really written as a single story arc with a planned ending (some DD classics like Charby have hundreds of pages and are still going strong!), but also because of all the obstacles to webcomicking that we talked about in this week’s quackcast. In any case, completing a webcomic is truly an amazing accomplishment. Here are some of my favourites!


The Optimist



Those of you who have been following the webcomics I highlight may have noticed that I'm a sucker for watercolours, which this comic used beautifully. The Optimist followed two Lithuanian children dealing with an oppressive government and an abusive father.


The Ends



This comic was very trippy, but in a really good way.


Ruby



Ruby quite suddenly finds herself in a mysterious dream-like land with no idea how to get home. She befriends a psychopath in a straightjacket.


Imaginary Daughter



A pretty creative concept…a man wakes up one morning to discover that he's imagined himself a daughter and now has to take care of her.


I've mostly included shorter completed comics here so that they’re an easier read for those of you who hadn't been introduced to these comics while they were still going, but there are some impressively long ones as well like SHELL, Mask of the Aryans, Crossoverkill, and Acrobat.
