A Generation Behind

kawaiidaigakusei at Nov. 28, 2016, midnight

I was not anticipating the long lines and large crowds for Black Friday this year, but my shopping haul from this past weekend was delightfully fruitful. I decided it was time for a "Treat. Yo. Self." spending spree (Tom Haverford-style from Parks and Recreation).

I played a lot of video games when I was in middle school and at the start of high school. Then something happened and the importance of college applications and a rigorous school workload caught up and my dreams of being a gamer girl were put on the back burner. That is why it is no surprise that my large purchases from the weekend included a Wii, a Playstation 3, and a flat screen television. It is difficult to believe that both gaming systems are one decade old because the technology on the PS3 is still more advanced than its predecessor, the PS2. I have always collected consoles that were an older generation than the most recently released version at the time because I could never justify paying full price for a game when an older generation has just as good graphics and hardware.

The most fun part about the Black Friday and Cyber Monday experience is that it is the closest feeling of being a kid in a toy store without an overbearing adult deciding what can and can not be purchased. I guess life as an adult is more fun because we can buy more fun things. Actually, one of my purchases that I was most excited about was some gray cover stock paper that I used to use to make webcomics. I think it might be time to get back into the groove of drawing again.

Did anyone take advantage of Black Friday Deals? Do not forget that today is Cyber Monday and it is taking place worldwide!
