Drawing Attention #6
Ozoneocean at Sept. 15, 2017, midnight
This week is almost a continuation of #5 where I spoke about Holon and it's creator Abt_Nihil. This week I'm drawing your attention to an issue that you may be able to help with.
One of the comics that Abt_Nihil administrates is the popular community project Heroes Alliance. Beyond the occasional (and I really mean occasional) art contribution, I am not involved in this comic. I provided most of the art for and also plotted one of the issues, which at the time tied in with the finale of Energize: Hunted, and was the in-story closing of the door on Heroes Unite. For me, it was the moment the HU torch was officially passed to HA.
The comic still goes strong and is a testament to the community that powers it, and reading through one issue is a fantastic showcase of the talent on the Duck, both writers and artists. What is great to see is that there are people who love comics and enjoy reading them, and through HA they are pushing themselves to begin drawing. There is no frowning or mocking if someone is lacking in ability compared to another, it is a supportive process.
BUT…the pages are slowing as the ideas are growing. Behind the scenes there is an abundance of people that are throwing ideas in a pot and then the core creators are meticulously organizing which stories should be the next issue. The problem is that the pool of artists is not big enough for the pool of ideas, and the same people are rotating the duties to get the comics done. This is great. but wouldn't it be better if there where more? Imagine the potential it could achieve then?
If you are an artist and have your own comic, get on the forums and get yourself hooked up with a page. Maybe two or three. It's like the cheapest advertising you could get and is a great way to promote your comic. One page of work and you expose yourself, your artwork and potentially your character to a whole host of new readers. And take it from me, they are loyal ones!
