The Pumpkin Fox

I gave an assignment to draw a pumpkin to a third grade class and after each student turned in their version of a pumpkin or a Jack-O-Lantern, a student turned in a drawing of a pumpkin fox.
“Oh my gosh, that drawing is SO cute!” I exclaimed as I reached for my phone to snap a picture. I promised the student I would crochet a plush toy out of the drawing because it was an original design.
It is funny how my mind works now. I know how I imagine a fox would look and I know how a pumpkin should look, only I would never imagine putting the two together because I have never seen a pumpkin fox before (of course after a quick google on the Internet, a pumpkin fox has been imagined before). However, to a third grader, the idea of these two things come together so naturally.
I think back to a lot of toys I had growing up and I wonder if they were the products of think tanks of children or if there was an adult who still came up with creative ideas with a childlike mind.
I would very much like to come up with an idea like a pumpkin fox on my own.
