An Unexpected Pause.

kawaiidaigakusei at March 16, 2020, midnight

At around ten o’clock on Friday morning, I was refreshing my email box for any messages from the boss regarding the status on whether we were required to report to work the following week. There was no word sent from the higher ups that was being trickled down.

Thirty minutes later, I received an email from a teleconference that work was going to be on hiatus for an undetermined amount of time.

The rest of the day was filled with trying to keep everything under control even though the level of uncertainty for my own routine was going to be disrupted.

Waking up on Saturday morning was a whole different story. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I had an abundance of free time and energy that I could finally focus on a lot of home tasks that I have been putting off for a long time. I had more time to read, draw, put together a puzzle, watch my favorite shows, do yoga, clean, play board games, cook, watch movies, and crochet without any of the guilt or obligations I normally have on the weekend.

Social isolation is interesting at this time in history because we have the Internet and we can socialize in many virtual ways.

It is still early on, but I feel that this sudden abundance of free time is a much needed pause that we need as a society to step back, take a break, and get a much needed rest.
