Musing with music

When sitting down to write or sketch out a comic episode I reach for my 300+ song playlist, sit back and let the music take over my imagination. Whether it was through friends, Spotify or other online recommendations, I have a playlist set aside for each creative project I am working on. There are curated soundtracks for intergalactic battles, for betrayal, love, heartbreak; for each moment there is a song behind it.

Having a soundtrack for your comic/creative pursuits is a common practice for creatives. For instance, Quentin Tarrentino turns to music to become inspired, remarking, “…When I am starting a movie, when I’m writing a movie or when I have an idea for a film is, I go through my record collection and just start playing songs, trying to find the personality of the movie, find the spirit of the movie. Then, 'boom,' eventually I’ll hit one, two or three songs, or one song in particular, 'Oh, this will be a great opening credit song.” (Click here for the full article
