Another Year Gone in a Blink of an Eye

Eleven days left until 2022 has me reflecting on the year that was basically navigated on autopilot. “May you live in interesting times,” a saying from ancient times that is quoted many times in the forums by bravo1102, most definitely will apply to these years. Plagues in antiquity will never get old from the Plague of Justinian to the Bubonic Plague to the Dancing Plague. We have successfully landed in a time in history that will most likely be written about in fifty years.
This year started with a glimpse of hope for a light at the end of the tunnel and as soon as people started returning to work, I started to come to terms that returning back to the daily grind was not going to be the same for everyone.
Before a sense of normalcy was established in the general population, it was forecast that there would be two groups of thinking: those that wanted to resume life as it was in 2019 and those that were looking for a clean break to do something completely different.
I remember returning to my day job last Spring, flabbergasted at the quick return to life before lockdown and amazed at how quickly the return to normal was expected. By Autumn, it was clear that I had personal limitations for external expectations and it was clear that I needed to take a break from the nine to five and to jump back in when I have recharged.
The holidays are a perfect time for that, so stock up on hot tea, hot coffee, and hot chocolate. This is the time for hibernation and rest and relaxation.
Happy holidays, Ducks!
