That damned jacket of K'Siurra's has drifted around my stuff, my design sketches, for 10+ years trying to find someone on which it looks right. I think it finally did with her (as it made it into actual sequentials).

I do a lot with romantic sets; couples usually. There's Trent and K'Siurra, Mr. White and Jara, Vic and Pandora have also been mentioned. Sometimes there's a poly relationship as in the case of Quill, Hark, and Regan (the K'Raigans also, for instance, have three genders). Over in Endless Winter, Cray and Maril are married, Alex and Evan are a couple (though one might debate just how far that goes emotionally, since Evan is a doll, and Alex makes his feelings rather clear on the purpose of dolls).

Characters who are romantically involved are very important to me. They show an emotional tie that's especially meaningful if you have an outright bastard of a character. It's also something that can, from the standpoint of a writer, be exploited to put the character where s/he needs to be for the story, or to strike an emotional chord in the reader.

There's probably a deeper psychological reason for it. I'm sure some brain-shrinker could attribute it to a strong desire for stability and comfort at some point in my life, something about divorce, or my relationship with my mother.
