Ok, here's my question:
Given that the Spartans are such a well known and iconic warrior culture, with their appearance extremely well documented in art (statues, pottery etc.), why didn't they have proper Spartan costume? What was the creative reason behind the generic/cartoonasized appearance? Because it's hardly an arcane or obscure subject.

-Edit- No, I have a better question!
-The story the movie is based on is essentially a piece of heroic propaganda, as well as being the classical tale of East Vs West, extremely polarised, and simple: Devilish, godless Persians, fighting brave Greeks. Was the decision to make the film at this time in any way influenced by attitudes in the US regarding "the War on Terror"? -the whole thing; 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.

Alas, I haven't seen the film yet but I so want to.

I've heard that the film is pretty faithful to Frank Miller's comic book. Was there any scene that required a change from the source however and if so, why?

Edit: I just noticed that there's already an interview over at Broken Frontier. But maybe this is for the next section of the interview?

I was wondering if it was hard to get the movie made. Now that the movie is done it's pretty obvious that it's an awesome, exciting story, but in the early stages of production were people into making a movie about the battle of Thermopylae?

I know comic books are all the recent rage in American cinema, but is it more difficult to produce a movie based off of a graphic novel, even though the material is much better geared toward motion pictures?
