have you ever wanted to do something stupid?
I was walking along the street, and I suddenly just waved to a random person driving by. There was traffic. I did a really exxagerated wave and an EXTREMELY exxagerated smile, and this was not after I had been fooling around. I was acting very serious, and then I just streightened up and waved to them.
The cars moved before I got to see their expressions.
my life is just a string of stupidity-fueled events.
uhh you know those glow necklaces?
these?
when I was little I ate one.
I ate a christmas ornament too. it looked like a gingerbread man, but it was actually scented cardboard.
I've always wanted to go up behind someone at an ATM, wait for them to punch in their pin #, and then say "got it!" and run away.
I used to do all kinds of stupid stuff when I was a kid. The stupidest, I'd have to say, was playing a variety of games me and my friends called "Distracting Cars."
Other stuff we did -
-Playing out in a flooded ditch during a raging lightning storm
-Jumping off of the tallest things we could climb
-Climbing outside the walls of the playground equipment instead of inside. OK, but everyone I know did that.
There was only one time I got seriously hurt - one playground had a bridge up off the ground leading to a slide. Instead of going down the slide, those of us with a long enough reach were climbing over the bridge railing and swinging down to the ground from a bar. I did it and landed OK. I started to walk away, slipped in the dirt, and broke my arm.
Climb on the rooftops of the buildings at school. I actually tried to do this with some friends, but we almost got caught, so we left. Yeah Lameness I know.
I did that once, someone left the door to the roof of my 8 tory dorm open, so we went out there. You could watch the football game from there.
I think I did the dumbest thing I've ever done in my life last night. Anyone else ever done something so dumb it might get them fired?
Enter the Frogger.
'South by Southwest Interactive is the yearly conference for technorati and the Net Set held in Austin, Texas. Speakers sit on panels discussing the latest issues in technology, gaming and communication, all in an atmosphere of good barbeque and good beer.
There's even one story - now a legend - of what happened on the night of March 14, 2006. After the closing conference party, a small group of journalists and techies met in Peter Ludlow's Second Life Herald hospitality suite, at the Driskill Hotel. There was still a bottle of tequila, and other work to be done that night.
As the party started, Philip Torrone and Limor Fried entered, carrying a bag of supplies. They made for the kitchen. One of those robot vacuum cleaners, a Roomba, appeared. Fried, an R&D fellow from Eyebeam, began to cut a green T-shirt into strips.
Torrone, a senior editor at Make magazine, explained to a reporter from C|Net News that he'd rewired the robot's remote control, and by using Bluetooth was able to drive the Roomba with his laptop.
Word spread through the suite. The reporter began to take photographs, and the Roomba took shape. As foam cups were taped in place and green fabric fitted, the Roomba Frogger rolled across the floor.
The historic downtown hotel happens to overlook Austin's Sixth Street, and the Second Life Herald suite happened to have the third floor balcony. Looking down upon the street gave an identical perspective to that classic of the arcades, Frogger.
The anticipation turned into debate about how long poor Frogger would last in live traffic, how soon before the police would arrive and how good a player it takes to beat the real-life game.
By 2:00 in the morning, the robot was ready. The Roomba went back and forth across the street. On the 10th trip across four lanes of traffic, Frogger got crushed by a white SUV. After they picked up the debris, everyone laughed and remarked on the world's first coin-op-inspired vacuum cleaner game.
The next morning C|net's News.com ran the story, which went on to become one of the outlet's most-read stories of the year. "Once you get a taste of Roomba Frogger," noted Ludlow, "you can't get enough."'
Not me, but still.
dose sticking youre finger into the ice maker to see how the ice is made count as stupid?
well how about tuching the stove iron to see if its hot because its been on high for 5 minuts and still hasnt turned oarng?
i think thats about it… maby theres more ill just post agin if i think of any thing.
marine, thats crazy.
What about when youre at the pool, and you put a kickboard in the deep end, thenyou get on the diving board and try to land on it standing up. Only to jump on it, have it slip out from under you, you fall, then you hit your head on the side. and sink to the bottom.
me.
ya i was invited to this breakfast thing at someones house, like a dozen people or so. my plan: rock up in a bear costume. Everyone would have been like, 'what the hell?' and i would be like 'i was under the impression it was a costume breakfast thing…' and then i'd take the head off and sit there and eat eggs like a schmuck. I would've too but there was like a church activity everyone was going to right after so if i went i'd have to go in a bear costume and like then i'd be like 'oh crap, i'm stupid' for ever. good times. good times.
