SO DOES "HOSAKA" MEAN "EMO" IN JAPANESE?

Go watch Minami-ke. Then compare Zero to Hosaka and Haruka to Kitty.

It should all make sense…

SO IT DOESN'T MEAN EMO IN ASIANESE?

SRSLY I'M TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT

Also, I would COMPLETELY watch Gurren Lagann if trying to watch shit on the internet wasn't so gay and if I had money to buy DVD's.

Is that seriously how they translated it on the DVD?
Holy shit. And I almost bought that shit.

Hmm…I see a future for myself. Translater. Subtitler to anime DVDs. Because ace it, what we have now blows monkeynuts. Seriously, the School Rumble DVDs, the Lucky Star DVDs, the Hellsing DVDs…all are subtitles poorly.

Oh, but the quality. Yeah. That's way, WAY better. Just as long as I get the subtitles I'm fine. I don't even notice the obviously poor grammar. I learn from it. I think to myself: Hey, that's probably how the sentence would be constructed in Japanese. I think that to myself, and I pray to the Heavens I am right. And right after that, I pierce them. With powertools.

See, my problem with watching things online is that I only have two choices:

1) Wait three hours for something to download (Like 5 months if it's a torrent)

2) Watch fifteen different Youtube clips just to see one episode.

Youtube sucks.
Find a good site.
Plus, it's illegal for you to use Youtube.

There's plenty of decent streaming websites. I often use joox.net. But that's just one of millions.

Edit:

I just clicked to see if that link worked, and apparently the website has had a grinding halt. The animes they have are like…2% of the grand total they used to have. Disregard my last, Joox has gone to poop.

This Winter season is at its end, and Spring's season is a coming quick, so I guess it is time for the AQUA_NG'S FIRST PSEUDO OFFICIAL SEASONAL ANIMU AWARDS

Clap, clap, clap.

So without further ado, it's time to get this thing a crackin'

Comedy:

Winner: Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Runners up: Clannad, Hayate no Gotoku.

Oh man, ZSZS was pure lulz. It had a mish-mash of slice-of-life, puns, and referential humour all served into one absurd, off the wall lawlfest. Every episode served up a despair of laughs with its non-sequiturs, while making you go, 'Oh! That's so true!' Clannad was surprisingly funny for a genre of its kind, with Okazaki tricking Fuko into thinking that 'It comes off sometimes' to Sunohara's existance itself. Props also go to Hayate no Gotoku! for its relentless and unpredictable use of cameos and nods to other animes. Where else would you see Nia from TTGL actually making an anime?

Action:

Winner: Rosario+Vampire

Runners up: Bamboo Blade, They Are My Noble Masters

Well, in all honesty, there weren't much action for me this season. So, I guess this is a win by default things by Rosario+Vampire, considering there was at least one fight a week. Although, to be honest, they did a great action oriented tenth episode, which was rather impressive. Bamboo Blade, although a sports anime, had so good animation during their kendo fights. Why They Are My Noble Masters as a runner up as well? They have shown me a fight scene that included a bear with sunglasses on. That talked.

Drama:

Winner: Clannad

Runners up: Spice and Wolf, Shigofumi

I would like to say 'no contest', but that would mean that the runners up were weak, but they're both good solid animes, concerning drama and the interaction and development of the characters. I guess what puts Clannad on the top spot was that it was the one that got me on the verge of tears the most times. The story is so touching, especially Fuko's and Kotomi's arc, but also the gentle development and blossoming of Nagisa and Tomoya.

Moe

Winner: Kawazoe Tamaki (Bamboo Blade)

Runners up: Ibuki Fuko (Clannad), Fumika (Shigofumi)

Actually, there has been an ONSLAUGHT of moe characters that ought to be mentioned, including Horo (Spice and Wolf), both Chiakis (Shigofumi and Minami-ke: Okawari), and essentially all the girls from Clannad, Rosario+Vampire, Bamboo Blade, and Hayate no Gotoku, as well as some from ZSZS and They Are My Noble Masters. By why Tama-chan? O_O, that's why. O_O That expression is so dam irresistible. Being adorably quiet and a menace on the kendo arena doesn't harm that either. As well as her ideals and morals that she got from animu.

GAR

Winner: Furukawa Akio (Clannad)

Runners up: Hosaka-senpai (Minami-ke: Okawari), Ren (They Are My Noble Masters)

'ORE WA DAI SUKIII!!!' he screams, running down the street, bread in his mouth, chasing after his wife. I WANT HIM TO BE MY DAD. From the ridiculously hilarious side of him to his awe-inspiring speech, he is the one I would go GAR for. I'm sorry Hosaka fans, but be disappointed. If it was a season ago, I would gladly give the title to him, but now…Akio is where it's at. He just dominates any scene he's in with his sheer manliness.

Surprise hit

Spice And Wolf

Why is it a surprise hit? Because I download the latest episode, and then procrastinate watching it thinking 'It's going to be boring', but when I do watch it, I think 'Why did I put this off?!' It takes some anime to hold you with a soft grip.

Disappointment of the season

Winner(?): Minami-ke: Okawari

That's right, orz away Kana, orz. I was prepare to meet this new style with an open mind, but then…they decided to make it not funny. Eurgh. The off the wall characters were made bland with the depressing atmosphere of rain and gloomy clouds. That with bad jokes and bad quality animation…and don't get me started with the blacked out faces and the introduction of Fuyuki-kun…ARGH. Hope you're proud of yourselves, you've tainted the good name of Minami-ke.

Opening credits

Winner: Shigofumi: Letters from the Departed - ALI PROJECT: "Kotodama"

Runners up: Clannad, Hayate no Gotoku

Clannad's opening was visually enticing and was actually rather faithful to the game, while Hayate no Gotoku's one had music I could get pumped up to. Both excellent. But the one that stuck out for me was the one for Shigofumi. Well done visually, well done aurally, I liked it a lot. A lot.

Closing credits

Winner: Spice and Wolf - Rocky Chack: "Ringo Biyori"

Runners up: Clannad, Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

SEVEN APPLES ON A WITCH'S TREE WITH SEVEN SEEDS TO PLANT INSIDE OF ME. Oh my, the best Engrish ending ever. It's got it's on charm that I cannot describe. Clannad's one is gentle and is fitting to the theme of family, whilst ZSZS's second ending is so catchy.

Soundtrack

Winner: Clannad

Runners up: Spice and Wolf, Shigofumi

Spice and Wolf's music managed to capture the essence of the middle ages, while nobody can deny the greatness that is Yoko Kanno. However, what set Clannad above the rest was it's attention to detail concerning its adaptation. All the songs from the anime were either straight versions from the game or remixed versions. Amazing attention to detail.

Visuals

Winner: Clannad

Runners up: Shigofumi, Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

I just can't find an image that'll will justify the eye candy of Clannad. They simply went above and beyond the need. Going at 24 frames a second at some scenes, the lighting and the backgrounds, and the eyes. It's magnificent. Shigofumi deserve credit for the use of lighting as well and ZSZS for its artistic creativity.

Which leaves me too…

Winter's favourite

Winner: Clannad

The writing, the emotion, the visual, the voice cast…magnificent. I just can't put it into words…but all the other animes I've mention here is worth a look too.

Oh my, tl;dr

You must really like Clannad. I can't help but think the jury of this seasonal award ceremony was a bit biased…

Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong season here, but where's TTGL? Was it too early to be incuded in this seasons award ceremony?

TTGL was from Spring/Summer 2007.

This is Winter 2008.

Clannad… ;_;

I downloaded it and all the voice patches, etc. It took several hours to download and make sure everything was ready.

And then I played it… and it didn't work. So then I restarted it, and it didn't work.

And I blamed vista. And sadly uninstalled everything.

Then…

Then…

;_;

I realized it might not have worked because I forgot to switch my language to Japanese!

D:

D:

I'm in despair.

Who gives a rats ass about dates these days. I only saw it like, two months ago. For me, it was Winter 2008. Just like School Rumble is now Spring 2008 to me. And so forth, and so forth.

Hmm…good times.

Also, I did read most of the stuff in that tl;dr post of yours. Like, the short bits with one line in it. Or the pictures.

Edit:

AND ZETSUBOU SENSEI WILL PROBABLY BE SUMMER 2008 FOR ME! BWO-HA-HA-HA-HA!

Seriously, I need to download it, stat.

Another edit, since double posting is lame:

I had to share this:

Hmmm…Yagami Spongebob.

I just completed Tomoyo's route in Clannad…it was so touching. It was the closest I got to crying in a long time. I must insist that you try this game out.

Also, Spring season 2008 is upon us! I'm not going to do a tl;dr post about the new animu coming up so I just post a link to somebody who has!

You know, this link right here.
