Anyone else going to be eating delicious delicious pancakes tomorrow? What do you like having them with? I love golden syrup, or maple syrup, or blackberry jam. mmmm. Dad makes them thin, the way I like it. What about you?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WERMGYQBXwc and here's a video in honour of Pancake Day!

I like my pancakes thick and fat, smothered in butter and maple syurp. served with a side of bacons.

As long as the Pancakes aren't burned, I'm happy.

They must have meat with them, though.

I really don't understand the tendency of… foreigners… to eat meat with pancakes.
In my family, you eat pancakes for dinner, but it's sweet.

That's kinda gross.

I eat triangular pancakes.

So is not. You have them with jam, or with lemon and sugar, or with maple syrup or something. mmmm. And because it's so filling, and time consuming, it's a dinner thing.

but… I can only make waffles good and I'll be damned if I have to pay actual money to get pancakes.

Had them once. It was… interesting. But that's not exactly… 'pancake'…

WHY IS EVERY DAY IN FEBRUARY A SPECIAL DAY??!?!?

Because February is a special month.

I was unaware that there was such a thing as pancake day. o_O

I don't have any pancake batter, but for the record, pigs in blankets = yummy. Especially when buried in syrup. =3

Every day in every month is a special day!

I think though that in the UK, Pancake Day is actually a special day. As an American I did not feel that pancakes were anything special, certainly not enough to warrant a special day for them. But last weekend I was with some kids and they were talking about Pancake Day. I think it must be related to Lent somehow as that starts Wednesday doesn't it? And maybe it is like Fat Tuesday.

I think the UK version of pancakes are more like what US folks would call crepes. They put sugar and lemon on them.

oh this means free pancakes at ihop!

Join IHOP to celebrate National Pancake Day (also known as Mardi Gras, or Shrove Tuesday) on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. From 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., we'll give you one free short stack (three) of our famous buttermilk pancakes.

…er wait. I guess tomorrow is free pancakes at ihop.

It's not just any meat. Generally people prefer certain kinds of sausage or bacon with pancakes. They compliment each other well since both go fairly well with syrup.

Well since that particular food originates in Europe, (notably France of course, but other places as well), it's probably rather unusual that certain people only have pancakes with sweet things, not the other way around. I mean, they have all sorts of savoury recipes for them!

I only like them sweet… Just plain pancakes that I make (no dumb mixtures), and good old sugar and lemon or maple syrup. Mmm.

Waitaminute. I thought "pancake day" was tommorow (Shrove Tuesday).

Now I'm confused.

/// Edit- Oh it is. NM

I like mine with Chocolate Chips or blueberries! And REAL butter. Not that margarine crap. ;)

I have to have meat with it, though. It's a family thing.

Now where did I put my tomorrow?
