After much deliberating I decided to delete my comic and leave The Duck.
I need to explore other options and really consider what I am trying to produce is worth it for me. I don't want to be just a hack comic artist/writer putting out mediocre work, which some have made clear to me that I am. I'm not stopping because of this criticism but rather to become better by regrouping. Plus I need a break. I have made tons of friends here in the last year while posting my comic and I appreciated all the support from all those who gave it. You know who you are. So everyone, much love and continued success.

Love,
John H Midgley

For the record, your product was NOT mediocre!
I hope you come by to visit!
(Seriously, you better come by every once in a while.)

Well crap Midge. That sucks but I wish the best for you.

You should join us at Seventy2's forums. Just to hang out with some of the old members of the TD. We would love to have you.

I don't imagine that was a decision you made easily. I'm sad to see you go, and I'm sad to see you delete your work. Ultimately though, if you feel you've made the best decision for yourself, you probably did - even if the rest of us are shaking our fists and/or going "Uh buh wuh?" Hope you have an enjoyable break, however long it lasts! *high five*

Gosh, I'm really sorry to hear that, Midge; I know what it's like having to delete your comic here (I already deleted mine twice!). Good luck on whatever comic you're planning to make; I hope that I'll be a success! Farewell, Midge! :stache:

Hey, wait a minute! If you leave DrunkDuck, who's gonna clean and maintain Top Drawer High School?! :(

Hey Midge - fully understand the need to recharge your batteries, but …

I don't want to be just a hack comic artist/writer putting out mediocre work, which some have made clear to me that I am.
Absolute crap! Take your time to get yourself together by all means, but don't listen to whoever said that. [blood/hound] was one of the most innovative comics I've seen anywhere!

I wish you every success for the future and I look forward to seeing you resurface at some time, fully recharged and raring to prove those imbeciles wrong!

Very sad to see you go.
I understand the need to take a break and regroup, I honor and respect that, and wish you the best. But I just gotta say…
Even if we ignore the process and progress you've shown in your own work, the drive for excellence to which you aspire in word and image, which cleary shows you to be not a hack… Even if we overlook the amazing amount of support you give to so many others on this site, the positive feedback, the time and energy which demonstates so much the opposite of the menial mentality of a hack… If we look at only this one post, the very nature of your action - To rest, regroup, explore other options and to become better, it is so clear that you are so not a hack. You have made this site (and this world) a richer, better place.
I hope you come back soon. More than that, I hope you find what you need.
Good luck.

Well for what it's worth, I really looked forward to BH and will miss it terribly. You're not going to please everyone, you know. Obviously you had a good following of faithful fans. I know that a couple of bad criticisms or whatever can be really hard on a comic artist (heck I have a problem with it–a BAD problem sometimes…I can be uber sensitive!) =p

But not everyone's gonna like my comic. I get it. I just focus on the positive, the people who like it…

As for BH not being worth reading, well…not to sound harsh but…BS! Not only was it a good read, it was good to look at. I thought the art style was unique and well crafted…and well, it's a shame to see it go.

Aw well. I also understand the need for a break. I have burnt out many times myself. So ultimately, if it's what you felt you had to do, well that's your decision!

I hope you stay around to look at other comics, cause I like to read your commments, anyhow. Thanks for reading my comic By the way. :)

To be honest with you… I'm to shocked and saddened by this news to post a coherent thought…

You were the first person on this site that made me their friend, and you were also one of the first people to leave comments on my comic….

I feel like someone ran over my dog!

I appreciate everyone's comments and support.
Just to advise I am reworking the comic and will be back at a later date.
So look forward to [blood/hound]'s return…

again thanks everyone for your continual support.

Midge- I already PQ'd my sentiments to you. But I wanted to publicly voice them as well. It is of my opinion that you can never fault an artist for experimenting . Experimentation eventually brings about change…with change comes growth. I enjoyed BLOODHOUND immensely and you know that.>>I'm not going to get with all the sentimental bullshit. Just wanted to say…You're your harshest critic…most of us are. (I believe you told me this just recently.)So no one else can make you feel inferior…unless you let them. Like I said earlier….go on…get your shit together and get your ass back here. (I'm still doing a BLOODHOUND piece…so there!) Jim

Your comic was FEATURED here at DD (They don't just give those out to just anyone) and you have lots of street cred and respect to boot.

WHO THE HELL TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE HACK?!?!?!

Sigh, either way, I'm keeping a good thought for your remixing and in what ever you decide to do creatively.

Peace be with you, man.

Oh Midge, I'm sad to see you go - I love your comic! However, I totally understand the need to take a break for a while. Sometimes, life just catches up and doesn't give you the opportunity / time that you need to work on the stuff.

Best of luck, and keep in touch!
