I personally find that drinking lots of water throughout the night helps. I mean, it makes you have to use the bathroom several times a night. Needing to pee frequently works wonders for keeping you up; just ask anyone who's ever had a urinary tract infection.

That's a really, really unpleasant way to try and stay up. -_-

I used to drive a semi. I'm a master at this.

Do anything that keeps your brain active. Listen to music you know the lyrics to and have to recall to sing along (but you have to actually sing along, or it won't work). If you like talk radio, listen to some that isn't boring. (It doesn't have to be talk radio, it could be a radio program like Hitchhikers Guide or even an audio-book you find engaging, especially if it's funny.)

The brighter the room the better. It is possible to temporarily fool your circadian rhythm. Get up and walk around. (these two aren't possible on a truck, but when I'm burning the midnight oil to get a comic finished, they generally do the trick. Sit upright and never stay still for too long. Shift positions. Caffeine helps me, but it doesn't help everyone. I have a friend who could drink coffee all day and all night and still fall dead asleep.

Do what Mack does in Cars. I laughed when I saw that, because I've made those faces myself, but it does work a little.

If you've extended yourself too much, your body will take over as fatigue sets in and you will find yourself succumbing to micro-sleep. (that disorienting feeling like you're just waking up but don't remember falling asleep and have lost track of time.) After a few of these, if you haven't taken measures to keep your brain active, you're done for and are going to pass out eventually.

Unpleasant but very effective.

I tried this once… read the wikipedia article on John Wayne Gacy. Managed to stay up all night because if I fell asleep, "The Clown might eat me"…

Urinating every so often at night to stay awake is a lot better than having taken your Metformin, then going out to porcelan throne for a couple minutes or more…

Carrot cake and hot chocolate for breakfast, (crispy)M&Ms for snacks, fries with tomato ketchup all over and two cans of original Relentless for lunch (Drink it slowly so it lasts the rest of the day).

It's how I managed to keep semi-conscious when I was passing out from anaemia in my second college.

If it can keep me partially awake through that, it HAS to work!

Expect to gain three stone, though…

Okay, my three consecutive allnighters are up in about a week.

Anyone know any good classical music?
I usually use Vivaldi, it's designed to stimulate the brain and stir up deep thoughts.
But it gets old after a while…

I'm gonna try the salted nuts bit too. I usually like 'em best once you've had them in your hands for a while. It warms them up and gives them a better temperature when you finally give in and slowly drop them into your mouth one at a time. Then after you stir them around for awhile inside your mouth, the salt clinging to the goldenbrown nuts absorbed by the body…

Yum.

You're doing another allnighter?

Man, get some of that red ginseng stuff, dilute it into coffee and stir in some crystal meth. You won't be falling a sleep after that.

…ever.

Genious. And yep. 5th all nighter in a month. If i fail one task i fail the unit meaning i fail the assignment meaning i fail the course. And ive already dropped out of a 2 year games dev course. Dads basically gonna lodge his boot in my innards if i fail. Making it my mission to get everything in and finished. Or atleast pass standard.

Edit: Still up.

Yeah, because once you're dead, there's no need for sleep.
