@Ozone: What's the weather like for you man? It's on and off for me. It's boiling one day and chilly the next. Sydney's pretty screwed up weatherwise at the moment.
Deathly hot over the weekends and mild during the week days. It's been like that for three weeks so far and it's projected to continue. -Every Saturday and Sunday it's boiling, but during the work week it's just nice.

There's a cyclone up north (That's a hurricane that spins the other way to you Northern hemisphere types) and that is going to change the weather in some way, I'm sure. There's also a gigantic iceberg (about 19x12 Km) that's drifting slowly towards us. It broke off of Antarctica a while ago (part of the icecap shrinkage). I'm sure that and the melt currents bringing it will change our weather some more.

————————

I was listening to a thing by John Pertwee (the third Doctor Who), yesterday and I decided to Google some pics of him because he was talking about his life and I wanted to see what he looked like when he was younger. But just seeing all the pics of him when he was older in the 70's as Doctor Who made me realise that he looked almost exactly like my late grandmother! o_O
Same hairstyle even… of course she was a lot skinnier and didn't wear that sort of gear, but the facial resemblance was uncanny.

I'd never realised that before, even though I grew up watching him as Doctor Who (in repeats).
But the really wired thing is that he even SOUNDS like my late grandmother and I never realised that either. lol!

You know sometimes when you first meet someone and for some reason just seem to butt heads from day one and then later on you realise they're actually a very cool person that you really like but because of that initial head butting you've ended up with a wall between yourself and that person that's kind of making communication more difficult than it would otherwise be and you end up totally lacking any kind of punctuation because of it?

You don't?

Actually, I have this problem quite often. In reverse too, where you make a good impression on each other and end up in a relationship of some sort that makes it difficult to back out once you realize that you either hate each other or have nothing in particular that's common between you.

So, I recently saw an article in this month's Juxtapoz that featured Canonball Press, which I remembered seeing here once before on the the DD forums somewhere. Sadly I couldn't remember where until I looked through my favorited comics and saw The Hub. Then I realized that Hyena posted a link to something by that name which was selling a couple of her prints in Art & Lit. I don't know if it was the same Canonball Press, since it seems like a fairly common name for a print company, and there weren't any of her prints in the article, but I think it would be cool if it were. Unfortunately though, I don't think Hyena is hanging around the forums much of late to find out. I didn't have the money to pick up the magazine, but if I find it online I'll post a link to it.

That's sort of happened to me…except usually it's that I just don't talk to the person at all(not because I'm a jerk, because I'm shy) and then by the time I realize that they seem like a really cool person who I'd like to be friends with, it would be kind of weird to start talking to them all of a sudden.

Eep, I've had that one happen. That's awful. :(

——-

We started Blender yesterday in Digital Multimedia and today everyone was making people out of cubes but I made a penguin because I'm in Blender Club(actually I'm the only member because that's how cool I am) and I'm a bit ahead. The teacher was like "Hey everyone Alex made a cool penguin you should go look at it!" and I got really embarrassed. :/

Technically, today wasn't a good day. Today I was to travel 200km up north for a university. In no less than ten steps, I nearly got run over twice. My train tickets didn't work, I tried to do some studying in the train, but focusing on reading made me travel sick. I decided to whip out my DS only to realise that I didn't have a game cartridge in it. I had nothing to do for two hours except for sleeping and feeling queasy. The interview wasn't too bad, although I did mess up one or two questions. And I whored out the thinking pose like there was no tomorrow.

Kinda like this, but more Asian.

I had nothing to do on the train ride home except for chewing gum and looking at my reflection on the window. But…

I got invited to another interview from one of the best engineering universities in the country. YES. Everything's coming up Milhouse.

Wow… finally got a car off the Forza Motorsport 3 auction house. :)

Okay, OKAY!!! I actually bought it out rather than win the bid. It cost me most of the creds I had at the time, so I had to race a lot to get more. O_O

I love the look of this car. Just one question though… what the heck are those two indentations in the hood of the 2005 Ford GT???

It's got a nice paintjob on it. I guess I'll go get a plain colored one so I can decide on putting the Drunkduck logo all over it…

Edit- rats… now I gotta find someone who knows Japanese so I can find out how to spell the phrase "Never Second" in Japanese as well as write it in Kanji (it's gonna be a character name for a car design I'm working on) :)

Gotta go for the large brandy/whisky method, either neat or maybe in some kind of hot drink. It won't cure you but hey, who cares?!

I can't decide on a dialogue font. I've looked at so many fonts now I'm starting to dream fonts and noticing little things like the slant of the crossbar in an 'h', or the depth of the middle bit in an 'm' - I need large brandy/whisky.

Congrats anyway!

Fonts
Ugh! I work with those most days in he office. All manner of silly, stupid, normal, boring, funky, fancy, flaky, crazy font styles imaginable. And many of them I have to re-draw in vectors from crappy image files. I'm starting to be an expert on font styles.
…I still couldn't tell you a good one for you comic though. :(

Finally, some good news for me. A few weeks ago, I entered an art show in Chicago, and I got an email today saying I've been accepted for the show. Now, all I have to do is get my piece framed and sent and I'll be all set.

Ugh… it's not easy using this livery editor. Got a thousand layers to work with though. Decided to go and "buy" some designs based on the anime "Lucky Star". Put it all on a Dodge Stealth (my favorite car). And here it is…

Some good news though… my car is finally up and running again. Mechanic found that the timing belt lost some of its teeth, instantly killing my car. Cost me $300 total for the repairs, including replacing my crankshaft, camshaft, and oil pump seals as the oil was leaking into the chamber where the timing belt was as well as the inside of the distributor cap. Hopefully the car doesn't do anything else to muck up my life. Mechanic tells me that I was lucky to be driving a Toyota as other car brands tend to keep going after the timing belt breaks, resulting on valves and pistons being broken…

It was interesting to see what life to see what life was like as a walker/bus rider. Found that a lot of drivers look down on people who walk or ride busses… something I never do as I've done a lot of walking and bike/busriding in my time. It's kinda sad, really… you gotta be really brave to be walking around at night despite all the dogs and robbers lurking in the shadows.

Now I'm tempted to try making a Pinky TA or a Skoolmunkee Xmas themed car… hehehehe…. :)

Air intakes. Because of the aerodynamic cowling, they moved the intakes to the hood instead of the front of the car.

As for the stealth, I prefer a dodge model that isn't just a retooled mitsubishi 3000 GT. Pull up a photo of one and you'll see that just about the only thing different is the front cowling and spoiler. I'm partial to the old 2001 Avenger's and the late 2 door Stratus RT's. The Avenger was less powerful, but more agile and responsive and the Stratus is just an upgraded and remodeled Avenger with way more power. Those cars were the base for the Spyder Eclipse too, back when the two companies were under the same roof.

I could yap on about those cars forever, just because I had one of the old stratus ES' which were basically just a 4-door version of the avenger with a different body and I wanted an avenger ever since I could drive.

I couldn't find a post to check. I think she just did what Custard and a number of other folks have done in the last year or so and just left to focus on another part of their life.

I sometimes think about this, like if they actually died, there'd be no way to really know. :-(
But maybe it's better to think they've given up the internet and started a life of bangin babes and booze.

I've been splitting my time lately between being lazy and creative. Still working on the b&w sketchbook (got 27 pieces now, right now aiming for 40 new ones and 8-10 older or reinked images so I'm still far away). Almost finished with the color one, which will be more of a hybrid sketchbook/artbook/short comic collection. Basically all I need to do is to tweak some text bits, do the insideback cover (and tweak insidefront) and send it off to proofreading.

I seem to have a comics job lined up for the next year: a four issue mini for a small publisher. Now if I can somehow keep myself afloat financially until that starts.

Oh yeah, another thing I'm wasting my time on (other than reading comics for "research" haha): watching UFO Hunters on youtube.

Well done; hope that goes well. In the meantime, invest in dried beans, lentils etc.: they'll fill the gap and last much, much longer than you hoped.

It's c-c-c-c-cold here! Some complain about the British climate but not me: it means we never get these nesting in our smalls:

What an attractive bug. Too many legs though. >.<

I was fixing my fence last night and I used a bit of bamboo. I snapped it in half and a sharp bit on the shaft ripped a gash along my right thumb T_T
It fricken HURT. It burrrned.
I washed it off and bandaged it up, seems all nice and clean and closed now…

But.
This afternoon I discovered one of my goldfish dead in the pond outside. That's sad, but I have many in there because they breed like mice. Anyway, It was way too hard to get it out with a device of any sort because I have a heavy grill over the pond to protect the fish from the kookaburras. So I lifted it up with one hand and got the dead fish out with the other. After that I buried it.

The trouble is that my hand now stinks like a dead thing. Not like a fishy smell, but like a dead rotten creature! I've washed and washed and used disinfectant but it still smells. And if I wash again then I have to keep changing the damn bandage on my thumb! UGH!

That'll teach me to pick up dead goldfish bare handed. >_<

Ugh… I'm trying to create a Pinky TA car design, but the amount of detail that Ozone put into her is way too much to try and imitate using Forza 3's livery system in one day. Looks like this is going to be one of those long stop/start projects… Too bad there's only ONE Australian car company featured in the game called "Holden", and they only have racing cars (350k creds each). I'd put Pinky on those cars, though. :)

I suppose I could create a Skoolmunkee car too, but I'd end up putting that on a Mini Cooper S (one of my favorite cars because it's just so cute… even cuter than the Volkswagen Beetle). :)

It's official. I'm turning into the exact image of my father. Right down to the disfigured left hand. lol! I broke off a major portion of my left thumbnail and part of flesh on the thumb itself while cleaning the apartment the other day, and the doctor is telling me it's probably not going to ever grow back the way it should. She said we should wait and see, but if it doesn't they're just going to kill the nerve that's exposed so it's not constantly causing me discomfort.

I don't even know why this seems funny to me. It really isn't, but I'm still laughing. I guess that's just my normal reaction to most things any more.

Lemon juice is great for getting smells like garlic, onion, and fish off of hands… I'd give that a try :]
