Ok, I got this for here. It was originally posted here.
Sounds a bit silly to me, but it's interesting anyway:
What your sleeping position says about you …
Foetus
Those who curl up in the foetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax. This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.
Log
Lying on your side with both arms down by your side. These sleepers are easy going, social people who like being part of the in-crowd, and who are trusting of strangers. However, they may be gullible.
Yearner
People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.
Soldier
Lying on your back with both arms pinned to your sides. People who sleep in this position are generally quiet and reserved. They don't like a fuss, but set themselves and others high standards.
Freefall
Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often gregarious and brash people, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath, and don't like criticism, or extreme situations.
Starfish
Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and offer help when needed. They generally don't like to be the centre of attention.
———————————-
I do all those on occasion except for "Starfish". The one I like to do most often and is my fave is "Freefall". Actually that description is fairly true of me… I suppose I don't even like "extreme situations", but I handle them ok.
But mainly I think it's a case of general traits that anyone can go: "yeah, that's SO me!", and if you think about it, so are all the rest probably.

What is your sleep position?
I know someone who has slept with their face in their pillow and their butt in the air. What's the story behind that? Horny person? XDOh yes, I know it:
The *whistle whistle* "c'mere doggy!" position.
Those who sleep with their face in their pillow and their butt in the air know exactly what they want and expect to get it. They are very accommodating people and make friends easily.
:D
No mention of habitual sleep-walkers then?
See, I can't figure out how people could fall asleep with their butt in the air. Don't they collapse into Freefaller once they nod off?
I sleep in foetus position (why does it feel awkward to say that?) but couldn't say I'm outwardly tough and sensitive inside. What you see is what you get. That's pretty much it.
Interesting, though.
Starfish and freefall to a certain extent but in starfish I always have one leg drawn up and out to my side.
I also do a modified foetus with one kneecap pointing at the far wall. In my case though, I have a damaged neck and this may be my subconscious striving to somehow relieve stress on the affected area. Of course – as they are wont to say on the Best of the Summer Wine – I COULD be lying. :spin:
I usually fall asleep in freefaller/reversed soldier combo… that is on my belly but with one hand close to the body and the other one next to the head (usually the one on the side to which my head is turned, less strain on the neck that way) but sometimes it's a fetus or something fetus similar.
I found out that these two are least likely to make me wake up asleep on my arm. I used to fall asleep on my right side in something resembling a fetus combined with a self-hug (right arm wrapped around my neck with my hand resting on my left shoulder) but if I had any disturbing dream in this position, I used to claw my shoulder hard PLUS if I turned on my belly, I covered up my right arm with the whole body cutting off the circulation.
The position I wake up in? Quite often it's something I call "the runner".
What is the runner?
Well, imagine you wake up on your right side. Your right arm is resting behind your back, your left arm in front of you (kind of like in fetus) your left leg is hent at the knee but pointing at the wall that's at the end of the bed opposite to your head, while the other one is slightly bent bak with the knee bent even more, so it basically points behind you. The runner :D
Makes sense since 99% of my dreams revolve around me walking somewhere…
I typically fall asleep at a weird 45 degree angle on my stomach and front with one arm under the pillow and the other splayed outward. Half the time, I wake up with my head at the foot board or turned sideways on the bed with my legs hanging off.
I have no clue what that means about me, other than "can't make up their friggin' mind about who they are."
foetus/yearner/starfish – or a variation anyway (I don't sleep on my back much, because I'll stop breathing.)
I am always hugging a pillow with my legs wrapped around another pillow. If I have a full body pillow or a blanket, I'm pretty much wrapped around that. If a cat chooses to join me, she becomes my arm-hugging pillow.
My knees never touch (because they hurt if they do). If I'm on my side and have no leg pillow, I usually keep one leg stretched and the other bent.
I know someone who has slept with their face in their pillow and their butt in the air.I slept like that as a kid. I also used to switch positions completely – like my head ended up at the opposite end of the bed when I woke up.
