What's the Coolest Thing You've Ever Seen?
Wow.. that question's so broad, it leaves so much to think about. Uhmm…
I saw mountains in Haiti. Real mountains that looked like they could spit boulders and things, and I saw a lot of naturally beautiful things over there…
I'm so gonna kick myself for that later. Like, "God, I shoulda said Sin City or something!"
I want to list a couple things. One is just a novelty… If you ever get a chance, go to the CN tower in Toronto and stand on the glass floor in the observation deck. It is fun. (I imagine that the new Grand Canyon Skywalk is more thrilling, though…)
The coolest thing, however, was the meteor shower I watched during a summer program at the College of the Atlantic (in Maine). It was as boring as meteor showers tend to be, but we saw a UFO! A light that grew brighter (like it was headed straight for us) and then suddenly sped away at a new angle. The consensus (among all the science teachers and their families) was that it was a "skipper," a meteor that "bounced off" the atmosphere. Some of the people there thought the angle was a bit too steep for that explanation to hold water. We're pretty sure that's what it was, but that's cool enough, definitely not an everyday sort of thing.
My life's kinda dull… the coolest thing I ever saw in real life was probably the otter that lives in the pond in my back yard. He's wild, and he just does whatever he wants. He's so cute and fun to watch. It's pretty neat because I thought of otters as really endangered, and living in colder places. He's living in a suburb in Florida. :0
I'm sure by tomorrow I'll have remembered something cooler that I've seen though. :\
I saw this cool webcomic before. Its the coolest thing I've ever seen, this is my opinion.
This is going to sound pretty lame…
But the huge chunk of scalp permenantly stuck to a screw on a pipe in the auditorium on the catwalk at my old high school. Theatre teacher rammed his head into it accidentally and had to go to the hospital…
There are still hairs in it >.<
I saw a squirrel and a crow weaving in and out of a chain link fence trying to kill each other.
I saw the Flaming Lips and Gogol Bordello from the front row in concert.
There's a mini everglade-like clearing far back in the woods near my house that no one knows about except for me and my brother and a few others. They'll be tearing the whole woods down soon which makes me cry.
I saw the shootout at the Annapolis Mall.

The first thing that comes to my mind is when a few months ago I saw a cop car, too rushed to wait for traffic at an intersection, jump the curb and drive through about 100 feet of lightly wooded turf on a huge triangular median at about 45mph, kicking up dust and weaving through the trees. A few days later my dad and I got to see the area from the opposite direction, and the place where we thought he got back on the road was blocked by various wires and poles and things, leaving us utterly perplexed with how he got his car through there…
IT WAS SO BADASS.
Watched an gang fight between seagulls and ravens/crows once. As in actual whole mobs of birds having a go at each other in the sky.
I think they were mostly likely fighting over land, as seeing birds can be very amazingly more territorial than any other animals I know of.
I couldn't tell who was winning though, there was too many of them. over 20 seagulls and ravens/crows.

Gosh I dunno anything I mention seems to pale in comparison to what has been mentioned here already.
It changes day to day for me, I see so many crazy things 'cause I ride a bike to and from work through Venice, Mar Vista, and L.A. totalling about 16-20 miles a day
I dunno this guy today jumped out at me and screamed A-bikearider I swear that he was the REAL strong bad from home star runner…
I'm not worried about this.
I mean, honestly, DC is a long running company that's got their own way of doing things. It's natural, and even sensible, that in entering a new market they would do it in their own way with their own take. If you want a site that has screened comics and so probably has a higher quality, but less diversity and eccletic comics, look through DC, if you want a wide variety of incredibly diverse, unusual, and many high quality and long running comics, go to DD. Also, the appeal of being published with a long running company may draw many professional comic creators out of the woodwork who instead would be sending submissions directly to companies, and we'd get to read them. Finally, an established firm like DC getting into webcomics could bring a lot of attention to this area and lead to a huge increase in webcomic readers.
There is one thing DD should be wary of. Reading between the lines of that interview, it appears that Zuda will have a new technology for displaying comics (part of reason for 4:3 aspect ratio). I know that most of us are used to it by now, but having to continually read, scroll down, click "next comic" link, wait for page to load before reading again, all the while being distracted by comments by the author and reader (I don't mind it's there, but I can find it distracting) and stuff at the top and side of the screen, isn't exactly the most optimal way to read comics, or even the most optimal way for them to be viewed online. It's possible that DC will have a simplified page that can go to each next comic page just by pressing a button or clicking (no mouse movement, scrolling etc.) As somehone who's read comics that were stored in .cbr format, reading through a comic just by continually hitting the space bar makes reading digital comics a lot easier, leaving you to get more involved in reading the comic itself. (Even little things like having simplified web pages, clicking on the page to move to the next one, and having pages small enough to view on a screen make things so much easier (See Nowhere Girl))
