What's the Coolest Thing You've Ever Seen?

Posted at

I had been living in Israel when a holiday was coming up. Holidays = nothing open. So my buddy and I had heard Petra was cool…in Jordan.

We went without really knowing what it was all about…all we knew was that it was big tombs carved into mountains.

So we got to Petra, stayed the night, and the next morning went off to Petra. We walked through this huge CRACK in the mountain called 'The Siq'. Went on for a full mile and we are like…"Where's the mountain tomb things?"

We finally get to the end and see something…we come out and this is what we see:

It wasn't right out of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade…it WAS THE EXACT TOMB! It was…amazing. Phenom. I've seen alot of cool things in the world…but walking out of this little long walkway through the mountains and coming to this tomb was…INCREDIBLE.

We then walked on for a couple more miles looking at the various other tombs but…nothing in my life has ever made that big of an impression as seeing that first tomb.

Seeing the Boston skyline at night.
We were staying on the 29th floor of the hotel right next to Fenway park, the view was incredible, espically watching the lights of the T cross over the river. It was all so pretty. :3

What a great thread!

One of the coolest things I ever saw was when I was on a sail training voyage on the Leeuwin (a sailing ship). We were moored in a rocky bay, near Albany I think (Western Australia), the land there looked like fjords… Anyway, I was ashore, climbing on of the large rocky hills when I heard the sounds of aircraft engines. Two single engine prop aircraft came swooping low over the hills and down into the bay having a mock dogfight, they looked like mustangs or spitfires (Pilatus training aircraft). Looking down into that beautiful rocky bay and watching them swooping and dogfighting down over the sailing ship under a bright sky was amazing, like something out of a funky action adventure movie… Very unreal.

1. The end of a rainbow coming down into a small square courtyard I was in. Should've dug under the birdbath in the center.

2. Seeing the Milky Way when I was a kid. Ever since I moved into an USA city many years ago, I've not seen a true night sky since. I love the night sky yet I've been kept away from the stars for so long.

Being able to see a meteor shower a couple of years ago was really cool.

And there was one time when me, my brother, and some friends were walking to a park. A huge buck came running out of the treeline, started running across the road, jumped completely over a MOVING VW Rabbit, and ran into the other side of the park.

The coolest thing I saw when I was in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada. The sea seems to end at a point and the current of the waves just stops at that point!

It seems as if the entire sea of the world ends at this exact point! I mean… it's in summer and when the water reaches it… the water and currents just stops! Unbelievable!
