Okay, I've at skimmed most of this extensive forum and appear to have found some "unique to me" bugs.

My favorites have lost my book marks, showing where I last left off reading them, and
much more significantly, I'm not seeing stats for readers of my comic. I'm currently showing 0 page views.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm running Safari 5 on Mac 10.6.

I have loads (about 50) bookmarks for comics that I dip into occasionally rather than read every week. Since the change to the new server none of the ones I tried work. Is there any way to translate from the old format to the new one. Searching for individual pages is incredibly time consuming, especially if one hasn't been to a comic for a while and cannot remember where one was. Other than that everything I use as a reader seems to be OK.
Chris.
[Added. Ach, I should have searched for 'book marks', not 'bookmarks'. I see that I am not the only one.]

The stats have been brought up a few times acually, and it's listed near the bottom of the first post (which is now poorly formatted because of forum problems). They haaven't imported old tracking data yet, and it seems they haven't gotten the new one working either. It's a big issue for a number of people, so at leaast it's not just you. Unfortunately I don't know when they will get things working.

I suspect the favorites lost their bookmarks because of the changed URL structure. Unfortunately there's no correlation between the old url structure and the new one- a few people have tried to figure out if there's some conversion but the numbering is completely different. The changed URLs are another issue which have been a problem for a number of people- any link to a specific comic page, from anywhere, is now broken. :[

Oh well, I
guess I will just go through and ditch them all then. Maybe one or two
will survive the purge but that's it. Thank goodness a large proportion
of them are not on the Duck.
Chris.
PS. I keep
getting a lot of 502s (just did trying to post this) and the occasional
503. Usually just trying again solves it but not always.

503 I haven't seen before, but 502 and 504 usually mean the server's getting busy and couldn't handle your request. They've been working on them but I'm not sure anything will happen soon to truly fix them.

There are a lot of people again using the feedback tab to give feedback on a comic rather than on the site. Maybe you should remove the tab from the comic pages again like you did last time?

Maybe I just don't get how this #%$%%@ editor is supposed to work, but I'm trying to set up some extra pages for my comic, and the formating just isn't working
All I'm trying to do is use some simple tables to center some images, because it looks like crap to have them left aligned… but even using the tables, they end up left aligned.  Argh!  I'm not a wiz with html, but I even cheated to get the propper code by making a libre office document with the formatting I wanted, and then manually (not even a cut and paste) copying the relevent parts to the html window.
Nada.
I'm about to re-post this on the feedback thingy.  Sigh.  I know it may not seem like a high priority, but it's part of the whole customization thing that we've been fighting with them about seemingly forever.

No stats are showing for Ginger & Shadow. I use a Mac, System 10.6.6,  Safari 5.0.5
Thanks,

Yeah they're not showing for any comic that I'm aware of.

I'm rather disappointed actually, because I was quite used to getting a couple or comments a week on my different titles, and I feel that the inability of the new "faves" listing to stay in a "what's New" state and the lack of a "DD Alerter" type notification system have hurt the readership on the different titles.

I find myself growing more demotivated to create because I can't even see if people are reading even if they aren't throwing comments up.

I can only hope that the people working these issues are close to a solution.  I can't be the only one getting depressed/frustrated by what is lacking here in this initial roll out.

Things I miss:

-Stats
-Notifications (Though I think I might RSS the favorites I know are updating to get around the lack of a DD alerter)
-The ability to look at all of the comics I own and see who has commented on what without going to each of the different comic titles. ( I do hope the integration of that includes the ability to be able to scroll through ALL comments on a given title on a given day)

Here's hoping the fixes for the above are coming soon, that my readership comes back (or at least reflects in my stats), and that I can go back to enjoying the community here like I used to.

I'm feeling very disconnected from things…heh.

I'm not sure where to post this, but this ad kinda concerns me on kids' comics:

It doesn't offend me personally, but I can imagine it could give parents pause.  I've seen other ads that don't strike me as "all ages" as well. Any chance we can have some filters in place based on ratings? Or just strike the inappropriate ads?

Haha, I wanted to complain about that ad too but I already griped about the spinning animated condom one, which actually did offend me! (it's akin to having a sex toy right out there really)I mean, I'm a prude but I don't want to put too fine a point on it! :P
But this was the kind of junk I filtered out of my PW ads, and I paid careful attention to what those ads were linking to. It's salt in the wounds that not only are those MIA but now the site's ads, which I can do nothing about, are things that I would have hit the "reject" button on.
I realize that the name change to "the Duck" was so our site could get higher-paying ads that weren't the "least worst of" from the reject-pile of other sites, but can't we keep it classy here?
"Oh no, people are scared off by the word DRUNK!"
* Sex ads everywhere*
Siiiigh….
And I wish I could see the previous posts without having to open this in another window…

When I click on my profile it says "502 Bad Gateway" Mac Safari
And when I just hit submit it said there are no posts in this topic. No idea if this will actually post…
Tried to update my signature several times but it keeps screwing up the html
If I can't access my own profile, this site is pretty worthless to me…

When are we going to get another update from Wowio. I'm an eternal optimist, but lack of talking and not seeing any changes is not very helpful. I would kinda like to see some more accountablity from them. At least an update every now and then would be nice so we know that they are still hanging around.

Alot of issues that we have brought up since day one still haven't been corrected, so I would like to know among other things

*When the forums will be more functional (like getting rid of this new fangled way of making posts and going to the old way and correcting problems with links, editing, lists. Maybe make the spoiler boxes look nicer? When will hitting "enter" mean anything to the format?)
*If they intend to do anything about the color scheme (the thing people have been complaining about before the new site was even made)
*The launch date of sever promised updates
*When PQ notifications and latest posts in the forums will be visible again.
*When we will have mods again
*When will we see seamless cross-browser compatibility?

this is starting to remind me of the old "ideas and suggestions " thread.
it had the sub-heading of "it will probably never happen "

I have discovered one little thing that might help with readability on the site. I noticed that the default text color is a dark grey and not black. When the color is black, everything stands out a lot better.

Are you serious?
I'm not a prude, and I totally agree, thats a highly offensive ad.
I use an ad blocker, so I never see what ads are up, never occured to me they'd be allowing ads like that.
That is NOT the sort of garbage I want my comic associated with.
I'm thinking I might start recommending ad blockers to my readers if that sort of ad contiues to be allowed. -_-'

I'm sure I sent all the mods an email with what I posted about Wowio in the rant thread:

Unfortunately there has been no development for the past…. 3 weeks, and because "they" (I say 'they' but my impression is that it is really a skeleton crew right now) are kind of operating in survival mode they don't see how they are able to make any developments in the near future. We've asked Lawrence about the colors and talked to him about that a bit on Skype, and he said he'd see what he could do. However he's been slammed this week, so it looks unlikely that anything will get done, if colors can't get done.

Sorry, I wish I had a better response for you guys. I'd keep posting bugs and stuff here if you find some, because it's not impossible they'll get their stuff sorted out and pick their projects back up again, but for now it looks pretty unlikely that anything will get done for some indeterminate amount of time.

We've also tried several times over the past few months to get them to communicate more, but… they're just bad at it. I think they feel like if they don't have good news they don't want to say anything, so in the end they usually just say "well it's okay for you and Oz to tell them this and this" but they don't seem to believe us when we say that it usually sounds better coming from them and not us. (However, sometimes when they DO try to post stuff, people just say "oh that's the company line" or "how dare he say that to ME" so I can understand why they might be reluctant.)

Has anyone mentioned the old RSS feeds (the ones users previously linked to) are all dead? I already reset mine to the new RSS feeds but a lot of readers probably won't think to go and update those. Perhaps there's a way wowio could access the code and send a generic "THIS RSS FEED NEEDS TO BE UPDATED!" update to the old feed. It would save a lot of time and woe for those of us who have readers not on DD.
Sorry if it has been mentioned before.

Horrible timing on that…hrmmmm…

Posted at

Yeah, it pretty much is the worst timing ever. Trust me they feel awful about it. (Of course, their feeling bad about it doesn't do much to comfort the people who are frustrated about bugs and reduced functionality.) It wouldn't have been a problem but something they were counting on fell through at the last second (through no fault of anyone) and that pretty much threw everything into limbo. DD is really important to them though so it seems probable that when they get their house in order they'll be able to devote resources back to it.
