24 hour comic is nearly upon us… meaning it happens OCTOBER 1st-2nd. now last year there was a big event with it and i'm not too sure at all that anything like that is happening again this year. however that doesn't mean that we can't do something.

for anyone who wants, we can do a 2011 collection comic for all those brave souls who take on this daunting task. and if anyone has any other ideas, such as a way to pester and cheer on the artists, i would be very glad to hear it!

p.s.
also, i'm totally doing 24hour comic day. last year was my first time and despite the sleep deprevition (i am terrible at all-nighters) it was amazingly fun and left me feeling super acheived. at least after i woke up.

I'm going to attempt it but even with the best will in the world I cannot devote 24 hours straight to making comics.  kids and stuff make it impossible.  However I will try my best and likely do what I did last year and do it over a few days 6-8 hours a day.

Mr. Niccea and I will be trying something. Might even be a comic from each of us. Probably won't be the whole day, but the waking hours for sure.

Hm, considering I'm not finishing my lite bites pages as fast as I had wanted, maybe I should plan that day around getting them finished. (I think we'll also be recording a QC that day.)

Could someone please clarify this concept for me.  Do you mean the artists involved stay up a full twentyfour hours CREATING comics or POSTING comics?

I couldn't particpate last year so I didn't pay too much attention.  I'm not sure I'd be able to particpate this year either, being that's the day after my husband returns, but it is an intriguing idea (IF I can manage to stay up that long - XD I'm not a young buck anymore…).

its staying up 24 straight hours with the goal of making a 24 paged comic. of course your best crack at it is always welcome because it really is kinda of challenging to make 24 pages in 24 hours. if you can't do 24 hours and need to sleep then i'd advise doing what genejokes doing of breaking the hours apart into large sections of time to complete your comic.

this is the official website with all the rules and stuff but as i see it as long as you try, and do your best, it doesn't matter. its about testing your abilities in a time rescriction and having fun with it.

I think I'll take a stab at it. Of course, it'll be more like 24 pages in 12 hours on the day because I need my beauty sleep, but I've always wanted to at least take a shot of this.

This sounds like something I'd love to take part in. Unfortunately like a lot of other people here, I have responsibilities that'd interfere with the complete 24 hour marathon. Regardless though, I'm gonna try to do something to participate.

Saw this last year and missed it. Dx Excited to try this :D

What are some strategies for attempting the successful execution of 24 pages in 24 hours?
Pre-write a script?
Pre-thumbnail page layouts?
Plan on strategically placed/minimal panels with background?
Stock up on booze… err coffee, gather with fellow artists, crank up the music, and just wing the rest?

I think the idea is to create it entirely in the 24 hours, script included.

Very well I call me Tom will attempt to do a twenty four hour comic! I will fail quite horribly but its the taking part that counts right?

If people are skittish about committing to producing 24 pages in 24
hours (like I am), might I suggest cheerleading – perking up those
sleepy artists for "one more page".  Last year I joined in as a cheerleader and I put several hours in on a running chatroom. Don't know if there'll be any running chat like last year – if one's not yet set up, I suggest that we get something put together

It was very rewarding:  got to compliment the artist who contributed the comic cover, got to chat online with James Riot for a bit, and drinking a beer AND gloating about it while Pit Face discovered she only had moldy strawberries in her fridge was a thrilling high (not recommended for the timid).

For those who haven't noticed the news section, I'll be creating a comic
collection that will archive all the comics created during this day.

Anyone
who submits their work will get full credit for their work, like
usually and I'll probably be running a similar setup as the one
currently present in the last years collection.

Spamers that deserve to have their balls cut off and fed to goats aside, I'm going to still try to do something for it. I am not 100% sure what. It will either just be more modules for my CYOA, a short story, or just work for the comic awards.

Can the comics be in sketch to be able to submit them to the 24 hour comics comic?

Alright. Just woke up. I will be cranking out as many Mystery Bread short story pages as I can between assigning Judges and Presenters for the DD Awards and living a normal life (my dog has to go potty at some time.) This will probably overflow into tomorrow. And since I'm a perfectionist….it will probably only be rough sketches done until I bother to ink them.

Crap… my handwriting sucks… guess I'll have to redo the dialogue at least before submitting it
