Howl. A British werewolf movie with a random group of people stranded on a broken down train ambushed by werewolves. Exactly what it sounds like. I enjoyed it for what it was.

Huh? - There are two 'Howls' now !
I thought it was the other one.

It was essentially the first Blade Runner trying to cater to the "Drive" generation (which also has Ryan Gosling in it and is basically a spiritual remake of it in the process)

What is the “Drive” generation, pray tell ?

Eh, y'know. Shifting from trying to be indie to trying to recapture the 80s aura and feel because we're afraid that our own same indie voices will either be too bland or too unwatchable in more bad ways than good.

But like I said: it only tries to despite the fact it's less inspired (and waaaay more futuristic) than the first film, which in itself wasn't as inspired as the "Electric Sheep" book it was based on one way or another…

Rock and Rule (1983)

In its own uniquely weird and subtle way it is pretty damn epic. Think Heavy Metal meets Pinnochio and the Emperor of the night.

No seriously, Mok is basically if Puppetino and James Earl Jones's titular baddie switched places if you stick around long enough.🤘

I tried watching The Expanse but just couldn't get into it… The writing and acting in the first few episodes just wasn't very good in my opinion. It looked too much like actors pretending and not characters hat were living and breathing their world. …and for a lot of it I felt like I was watching a live action version of Mass Effect (mainly the Citadel stuff) done by fans.

The first few episodes need a little perseverance but once it kicks into gear it's fantastic.

Ah, good to know.

——————-
I saw Van Helsing last night. I avoided it for years because it had universally terrible reviews.
It wasn't bad at all actually. The acting was fine and it was a just a rip-roaring action movie. Pure fantasy too, so I can forgive all the historical anachronisms- if you watch any monster movie you know what you're getting.

My main criticism was that it was too dark and there was too MUCH action: There were very few slow spots where you can catch your breath and chill, it's just full on, high speed Pow, smash, crash, bang all the time.
The vampire guy doesn't have the classic look either his face is too nice and friendly, not cold and austere or arrogant enough. - that's just a personal preference, not a real criticism.

I don't know why people hated it. Maybe they just wanted something else?

Isn't It Romantic (2019)

ಠ_ಠ

2 decades, A thousand plus movies. A million appropriately suitable possibilities to use this beautiful song.

And having Rebel Wilson run in a cheesy manner towards a wedding is when it is finally necessary…

…I await the day when Simple Plan's "Untitled" is used for, I don't know, erectile dysfunction or something. -_-

Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek in real life prison escape flick. Nice old school style of movie, you don't get many like this these days.

Currently watching Fairy Tail, which I never got to try. It's not bad!
Also looking into finding some Seasons of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia to help pass the time while working. :)

I went to see Battle Angel Alita in the theater, so now I'm on an old anime kick. Have you seen Cyber City Oedo 808? You probably haven't but you really should get a hold of the US dub. It's amazing.

Always Sunny is awesome.

Fairy Tail starts off good but gets really repetitive, like a lot of those endless shonen animes. I got disappointed in it.

Aw, that's kinda sad to hear. But thankfully, there are many to choose from!

The 91st Oscars…

…well unlike SOME people who see others suffering in unity enough to protest against a collective injustice (like the lack of "Sweet Victory" in The Superbowl) as cause to celebrate, I do not look forward to the mobs protesting on who was snubbed for best picture. -_-

7 DAYS IN ENTEBBE - Daniel Bruhl, Rosamund Pike, Eddie Marsan. Based on true event in 1976 where 4 goofs hijack Air France flight and end up in Entebbe, Uganda. Demand money and some pro-Palestinians be set free or hostages will be killed. 2 hijackers (Daniel & Rosamund) are Germans and of course a link to the Jewish Israeli's is brought to mind. Amin's guards provide support. Israel will not negotiate with terrorists and organize troops for a surprise attack. Fortunately all hostages (except 4) were saved and terrorists were all killed, and all for what?…nothing. Not a bad watch, altho don't know what all those dancers had to do with anything??? getting a 3 1/2 on the Moizmeter.

THE SNOWMAN - Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jonas Karlsson, JK Simmons, Val Kilmer, Toby Jones, David Dencik, James D'Arcy, Chloe Sevigny. Serial killer on the loose in Oslo, Norway. None of the cast speak Norwegian so why not have it in northern Scotland maybe? Film jumps around from past to present and back again with no purpose. I guess trying to confuse us as to who killer is but super detective Michael will figure it out as the guy is right in his face much of the time. Did Kilmer or Jones have any idea what their part had to do with anything? Finale scene is absolutely ridiculous, nailing down a 1 on the Moizmeter.

Retarded Animal Babies episode 22.

…It's as if I'm finally finishing the remaining two thirds of American High School…

Okay, that was juvenile, but American middle school (secondary school) wasn't any picnic for the most part. -_-

Norm of the North (2016)

52 minutes in and I would STILL rather watch this than any of the minions in Despicable Me or their movies.

Johnny the Giant Killer (1950)

This is more of a boy-driven Thumbelina adapted by Harvey comics, but the animation offers all the wonders of the decade it was released, and it's even inspired in a scene or two. Tis' super good.

Last night I saw Foolproof- a 2003 Canadian film with Ryan Reynolds. He's such a boy in it but all his speech styles, personality and mannerisms are already set, the same then as they are now.
It was quite a good film actually, quite clever and a little more brutal than you'd expect for an action drama heist comedy. I recommend it.
Atom Egoan played a part in the movie production, can't remember what, but that would account for the quirkiness.

Good twists.
