Just found out that Terry Jones of Monty Python has passed away at the age of 77.

One of the more prolific writers during the original series, he often worked with Michael Palin even after the run of the Flying Circus. Their tour of the sites used in Holy Grail is worth the cost of the DVD.

He was also a Medieval scholar as shown in his series on the Crusades and a noted scholar of English literature. Never forgot when a friend going into his graduate studies in English literature was assigned critical readings written by a "Terry Jones" and it was that Terry Jones, the token Welshman of Monty Python. (Palin and Cleese referred to him that way in Monty Python Speaks as well as the documentaries)

A real great comedian has passed who was so much more.

Terry Jones appeared in my comic Sword of Kings as Prince Thord.

He was a "very naughty boy". As always at religious holidays, I watched "Life Of Brian" a few weeks ago… very sad; awful way to go, for someone so smart.

Boundless energy, an inquiring mind, great humour - he seemed to embody all the great qualities and none of the rubbish ones. So much great comedy and he did a fine job as a director too. Dementia is an especially cruel disease, but he left us some amazing stuff and won't be forgotten.
