Might wanna consider making more.

I think I might have ill-advised by saying that.
If you enjoy life then there's no real reason to care if people think you have no life. If you have 1000 friends online that wont necessarily brand you as having no life. As long as you enjoy what you do it doesn't matter if you have no friends or a billion friends.

Although the billion friends might make things easier or just complicated.

Well, no one else in the senior class have the same interests as I do. At the time I was a freshman, I had a single friend, but he dropped out when I became a sophmore. Went the whole sophmore year without much to do on recesses, then made a few freshman friends in junior year, then when those freshmen became sophmores, they carried their 8th grade friends over. I have about like six friends IRL.

I tend to friend every profile I visit on drunk duck.

You know I've only seen two profiles with the 1000 friend medal, Volt6 and myself.

Trust me, I've seen a lot of profiles, about a thousand and ten plus worth.

I really hate how social networking has got it into people's heads that if they don't have an unrealistically manageable pool of friends in real life, they're somehow pathetic or worse off than everybody else. Most people seldom have more than a handful of friends whom they have a solid line of communication with. Six friends is pretty normal, duder.

Well said.

Although some people have varying definitions of what makes a friend, most of my facebook friends are people I know and generally get on with. I'd more call them acquaintances really. I have maybe fifteen good friends who have been constants in my life for prolonged periods.

as my good friend used to say, its not the number of friends you have that matter, its the type friends that you have.

I feel for you, Castle Pokemetroid, when i was in senior, i too had the realization that no one else shares the interests that i had back then. Because of that i had the image of being one of the weird guys at school.

But it shouldn't really stop you from going out and making good friends with other people. Them having different likes is actually an opportunity for you to try them out and discover new things.

Yeah. At school only, though. I'm a senior who hangs out with a bunch of freshman and sophmores.
Sounds kinda like my senior year. When I graduated, I knew my class fairly well, and the freshman and sophomore classes almost as well, but was completely ignorant about the junior class. Which made it awkward in college when they approached me and I had no clue who they were ._.

Amusing anecdote: Suicide Girls tries to double as a social networking site-complete with a friends list- in addition to, y'know, all the naked photos. And if no one is on yer friends list, the link simply says "You have no friends." Thank you for the social critique, mr. porn site.

lol!
Yeah… if you use social networking on a porn site "You have no friends" is probably true regardless if there's anyone on your list or not. ;)

……………..

Ok, I know that's a nasty generalisation and not likely true at all anyway, but the idea seemed funny to me so I just had to write it. :P

Me too. I have lots and lots of cat friends.

People friends, ehhh…not so much.
I tend to get along with most of the people I meet, but have found it quite hard to make any friends who I really want to spend a lot of time with. I'm shy and weird.
Sometimes I think I like animals better anyhoo. : )

I think this is slowly becoming a Cats Vs Dogs argument.
That being said, Cats are like a million times better than Dogs.
I hate dogs.

I'd say having 1000 offline friends means you have no life.

Then you're too busy making friends!

Dogs are so much better than cats. I've had cats try to sleep on my face to smother me, dig their claws in to my throat because I stopped petting them, and stick their paws down my throat while I was asleep. I've yet to have a dog try to kill me.

The ironic thing is that those are all just examples of cats showing affection (they like you), and pet cats would actually never even consider the notion of killing a human- they're very simple creatures, they just don't think in those terms. -And as small predators, such ideas are completely outside the scope of what they're able to consider possible. They're solitary predators who hunt and kill very small animals for food, that's all evolution gave them.
-Contrary to popular belief, cats aren't even as deep as a very shallow puddle. There are no secret, scheming thoughts happening in those fluffy faces. They're just simple, naturally pragmatic, small animals. They'll never consider you prey.

If a cat really does have an issue with you, they are absolutely direct about it and will mainly seek to try and intimidate you or scare you off, but 90% of the time they'll just try and run away.

But this is where the irony really hits home: A loved pet dog can actually sometimes consider killing you or a member of your family- not because they're mean or sneaky, it's just the natural dog way to establish pack-dominance and move up in the hierarchy. This is how evolution made them.
They don't usually consider humans prey unless they're part of a pack of some sort.
-As long as they're sure of and happy with their place in the hierarchy though, you shouldn't have any problems ^_^

/hijack thread into cats Vs Dog thing… But then the DD friends aspect was sort of petering out anyway…

The DD people I most consider friends are those I talk to on the forums a lot.

LOL I like a forum where a topic is derailed and the admin goes along with it. You know really though evolution didn't make dogs the way they are completely humans had a big role in how they developed and we have made them more aggressive in a lot of ways.
