I said "….seriously if they were illegal why would they have whole stores dedicated to them?"
He replied with "…omg there are stores? WHERE!!?? Can we go? "…..
I questioned just how deep his pervert like nature goes….he just looked away.
But to settle the issue once and for in the best way possible (the wonderful internet)…would you please make it clear to him that they are not illegal by shoving it in his face?

Are "adult comics" illegal?
Adult material in itself is not illegal.
It's illegal if:
It's owned by a minor(bought by and sold to).
The depiction and presence of minors in adult situation and or of sexual nature.
And things like that.
Adult comics aren't illegal. The content and the owner can definitively be.
It's like booze and cigs and guns.
Speaking of stores dedicated to that sort of thing, the manga section of the last Books-A-Million I went to was made up of almost nothing but 18+ yaoi for some reason. Entire shelves of it. It was really bizarre!
I couldn't find a single title from any of the totally common series I buy, just strangely obscure 18+ yaoi. How can the demand be high enough?
This should be in the comics section, but this place is so dead lately that we may as well leave it here for a while.

Is it illegal for a minor to have adult themed objects/stuff? It shouldn't be. Freedom of life/choice and such. Or at least that's the philosophy I want for the world. But then we'll all just be horny and dumb and in chaos and in anarchy and this guy:

Pornography laws can vary place to place. Usually these laws don't apply comics, although there have been some cases surrounding pornographic comics that depict children.
Also, most pornography laws are rarely enforced anyway.
So generally adult comics are perfectly legal, all the "mainstream" adult comics are perfectly legal, but some of the weird stuff may be illegal. Stuff life coprophillia porn is technically illegal in the US, although it's arguable if that applies to comics.
Adult comics should be illegal. They corrupt the minds of the young and they keep the potential of the adults down. It has been Scientifically proven that a special hidden part of the brain gets more active when reading 18+ comics. I cannot think of a single person that has actually managed to do something with their life AND read adult comics.

Furthermore the reading, creating and mentioning of adult comics earns you a special place in hell. Everything in there is made out burnt marshmellows and striped rocks. God himself mentioned that he hated adult comics on Oprah, smiting all in the audience soon after and then riding away on his winged pink unicorn. God only likes people that have Never seen a money shot.

While I don't do an adult comic, I've handled adult content, It's just never seen, only suggested. Today I showed a guy looking longingly at an underage hooker and it made me feel like I needed one of those showers they give you when you've been exposed to potentially lethal radiation. Though I think you need to have actually corrupted a child for it to be illegal, (photographing compromised minors or exposing them to adult material) I read somewhere that there are people who fake child pornography with photoshop or whatever to sidestep these laws and that the jury is still out on that.
Certainly if drawing child pornography was illegal there would be a steady stream of hentai animators and artists heading to prison… the stuff people are always trying to show me seem to feature girls in school uniforms… and girls who are at or above the legal age generally don't go to schools where there is a uniform. While you could argue semantics of there being a lot of 18 year old girls still finishing highschool/secondary school, I'd have to argue that it's implied the girls are younger to cater to the "deflowering fantasy" crowd.

If adult comics were illegal, I'm sure the prisons would be over capacity and such. Certain genres are defintely illegal… some weird test out there determines if they're "obscene" or not (unfortunately there are people out there who will consider showing anything except the eyes to be obscene "adult" material).

You have to ask the question for every country. Second you have to qualify what type of adult comic you are talking about. Violence or sex?
In most countries, violence is not illegal in any way. Strange enough, because when you are grown, injuring and killing people is illegal, fucking people (consensually) is legal.
In my country, the government is working on making laws that make anything that looks like minors involved in sex illegal, no matter if it is real minors, adults looking like minors, drawn comics, animations or plain text stories.
That means is you produce, publish for free, sell, buy or even look at these things, you can be accused being pedophile.
By the way, i don't live in Iran or anything like that. My country is Germany.
