I am going to guess that if your novel is very dark it has a slightly different subject matter then your web comic?
Though maybe super heroic food items just needed someone to come along and deal with them in the serious and mature way they deserve?

The scene from my novel was a torture scene. So yah, not as whimsical. OOC is based on the novel. I haven't updated in a while. I'm not too proud of it, it was my first attempt to draw a comic. I got better though.

Hey Nic,do you make your comic hand drawn?

Drawn with pencil. Scanned, redrawn with photoshop and colored. You can see a lot of smudges in my drafts. That is why I digitize everything. I'm left handed so my hand runs through all my work. There will be a lot more on it later. I'm in Quack with the Ducks. ^^ Why?

Edit: Do you think that T+ is an appropriate rating for the mafia comic? The language is mild and there is some blood. Nothing graphic though…

You use a scanner. And you can still do good stuff in paint if you know what you are doing.



This was scanned and colored in paint before I discovered the joy of photoshop. Very painstaking though because there is no layering.

Humorman was just about settled in bed when the phone rang. Doo bee doo bee doo! Placing the phone against his ear, a voice crackled on the other end, “what time is it?”

“Uh…it’s a bit past midnight. Who is this?” inquired Humorman politely. He really must go to bed…tomorrow’s going to be a big day what with that lynching and the whole job thing and the waking up thing and you know…

“Does it really matter? Listen I got this hot story that I need to run to the press! But did you know that the press closes so early?!”

“I didn’t know that…” humoured Humorman. “I suppose we learn something new everyday. Listen who are you and why are you calling? It’s very la-“

“Anyway that’s not important! The important thing is that tonight I need to get this story out! So. What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?”

“Huh? I… I don't know that.”

And that was how Humorman was thrown into a volcano.
