Egyptian is my favorite really. Such human gods. . .They were.
Least favorite is probably Irish. It just READS like they were drunk when they came up with it!
Suggesting the contrary would be underestimating them.

i'm not a satanist or anything, i just like how descriptive it is.
BTW this made me wonder why there isn't a story as descriptive as this, but a person going to heaven.
I'm a bit of a sucker for Aztec/Mayan mythology.
Sumerian. Because everything else is based on it, even root Asian Indian myths (the Vedas) And it's so easy to put in Ancient Aliens. The very name of the gods doesn't mean deity and forms the basis for many Bible stories/mythology.
Asian Indian mythology is akin to Native American or African mythology. You have an entire continent full of stories all thrown together. You have to seperate them out by who wrote it like Navajo versus Iroqouis versus Cherokee etc.
Christian mythology (as opposed to hebrew/biblical mythology which is rooted in Sumerian/Babylonian) is also cool. Like the wandering Jew, the saints' stories, trips to Hell, the non-biblical Nativity story, the Archons, the War for Heaven etc.
pretty much anything. one of my favorite myth figures though would probably be Achilles. another one would be Brunhilde. i'm no myth buff, well condsidering old myths anyways,we have plenty of stories today that could fall under myth.
i used to read the old ones, but not lately, wouldnt mind it though. maby i could dig somethin up on the net.
#1: German fairy tales
#2: Greek mythology (a remnant of my childhood obsession)
#3: Shelton, CT mythology (my hometown). Saw Mill Road is supposedly haunted by Melonheads… There's even a wikipedia page about it
I prefer the local myths. They're just more interesting to me. Such as the one about an ancient chief who could husk coconuts with his bare hands; he swam around the island several times too.
And then there's the Taotaomona; jungle spirits THAT MUST BE RESPECTED. Otherwise they'll either leave red markings on your skin or worse… some people who relieve themselves in the jungle without asking them permission find themselves unable to relieve themselves anymore. You'd have to go to the local witch doctor (don't know what they're actually called) to get it cured.
And then there's the famous Two Lovers Point. Legend has it that a local girl was going to be forced to marry a Spanish noble. Rather than be married to that guy, she and her boyfriend went to a cliff, tied their hair together and jumped 360 feet (or so) to their deaths.
I'd say egyptian purely because everyone has to learn about it at school at some point or another. One of my favourite stories we dubbed "Seth's bad day". I think he gets humped by a horse or something before eating a salad Horus sprinkled his seed on (to put it delicately) which gets him pregnant. I think theres more and it doesn't get better.
I've been reading up on Shinto myths. I love the Youkai and Ghost legends more than those of the gods though.
