Too bad there's a lot of stuff that I'm NOT supposed to eat, like roast pig, chicken kelaguen, red rice, and plenty of dessert. But come Christmas day I'm not gonna care. My doctor also told me it's good once in a while to do this sort of thing, but one of my brothers thinks I shouldn't come to the party at all. T_T

If you're having your traditional Christmas party, what are you going to look forward to?

*I know at some point I'm gonna hear a very loud shoutout for all sorts of alcohol…*

I'm looking forward to reluctantly handing over some of my gifts to one of the kids (my cousins) when they've finished tearing into their own…and then realizing it was worth it just to make them smile when they get to unwrap just one more thing. And the smells, how I love the smells of Christmas. Cookies and holiday coffee. Waking up to a chilly morning and dashing into the parlour to stare at the Christmas tree, and childishly squeal with glee when I realize that 'NO' the gifts we'd finished wrapping at 2 AM Christmas eve did not in fact disappear. I love Christmas, and I think I always will.

As far as New Years, we don't do anything.

We Brits traditionally start christmas day in the pub: by the time the turkey's cooked, we're well on our way to being three parts wallaced.

Last year we were having so much fun, we actually forgot to open any presents until 10PM. I took this pic on christmas morning - the pub is actually full, they're just not drunk enough to stand under the dartboard yet.

So yes, I'm looking forward to booze - lots of booze.

Roast lamb and roast potatoes on a stinking hot day. Then maybe the beach… Depends on how I feel. But it's likely to be packed down there.
I might just have an afternoon nap in the heat, letting the food settle. :)

I don't think I have any Christmas Food. There isn't anything I will eat over the holidays that I don't eat at any other time of year.

Except maybe gingerbread cookies. I had gingerbread-man-shaped cookies for the first time last year. They tasted like the ginger snap cookies I get from the store.

I just came to the thread to see what everyone else is eating.

I'm going to up a proper meal this year, except chicken instead of turkey. Most looking forward to the homemade mom's stuffing (mostly bread and eggs with some herbs) and candied sweet potato. :] I realized today that I forgot about the pistachio fluff, but A: I don't think I'd find all the ingredients here, because I'm sure it uses stuff like instant pistachio jello pudding amd cool whip, and B: I'm not leaving the house now til something makes me (or Monday rolls around and it's gym time)

Chocolate chip cookies. Sorry, Brits, though an Anglophile I cannot call a chocolate chip cookie a biscuit. It just doesn't work. I can see Christmas sugar biscuits, but it can only be chocolate chip cookies.

And the mixed candies come out.

The big meal for me happens tonight, and I'm not sure what we're having because it's a party at someone's house and I'm not sure what they're fixing.

Cranberry sauce. Get 12oz fresh cranberries, mix in a cup of water, and like a half a cup of sugar. Don't put in the whole cup like the package says, that's stupid. It makes it too sweet. You want it to be a little tangy. Then boil and reduce, the end. Easiest dish to make, tastes really good. Best part: free of TOXINS
